Is this thread yet another argument about whether or not appearance means anything?

I am your elder, so I guess its okay for me to disagree with you.

I grew up in that brand of conservatism. I was a good kid who lived in mortal fear for my soul every day. My pastor beat things into our heads that I have never fully recovered from.

I have a large and widespread history with this stuff. You deceive yourself when you say this is minimal. It is not. Look at all the stories on AFF alone. It is a plague.

I have simply sowed the seed and loved people unconditionally. These folks who are getting baptized are doing so NOT because of emotion or guilt. They are making a conscious decision and committment. I have seen God do miracles for these folks and the folks I baptized a week ago as well.

Many would consider me a liberal compromiser. That doesn't bother me in the least. I am seeing poeple's lives changed and observing them develop a relationship with Jesus Christ!!!! There is nothing better than that. No, they don't LOOK like some think they should, but they love the Lord and are finding a life that they didn't think was possible. I RARELY mention things about clothing etc. Give me a group of people who love the Lord vs a group of people who boast of outward holiness any day.
MOW, are you saying that others unlike you are not seeing these things happen? Are you saying that UCs (or even your average ol' con) don't love unconditionally and force baptism on people?

I'm sure that's not what you're saying, but it is insinuated, even if subconsciously.

AFF is by no means a good, representative cross section of the Apostolic movement.

I would say more if it wouldn't be offensive.

If the pastor you often speak so highly of did this to you, I confess it does create a dilemma in my understanding.

And yes, Elder, you are welcome to disagree with me.

We may be talking past each other here, or just disagree fundamentally on what the definition of "this stuff" is.

If AFF were the norm, we could all agree. Birds of a feather, my friend, do flock together.

Well, you apparently didn't read why CS wrote what he did.
