Re: Tulsa Tango????

Our Pastor has told the people at our church that if they go out to eat and do not treat the waitstaff with respect and leave them a generous tip they need to find a new church to go to because he does not want people like that in his church. He wants people that leave a good impression when they leave a place.
Our young people were in a place after a service and our pastor was there a little later and the manager came to him and told him that he was very pleased at the way our young people behaved in his establishment and that he wanted to let him know that whatever he was teaching them was working. They were the best young people he had seen in many years.

What a great testimony Jax. I am always so happy to hear of young people living for Jesus.

Thanks for sharing this excellent report!

To be honest, I find it rather sad that Bill continues this behavior.

By their FRUITS you will know them. What are fruits? What is being a witness? It is showing love, compassion, good temper, and selflessness. THIS is what the gospels are filled with in example after example and yet so many think "witnessing" is showing up looking different then everyone else in the room (hair, jean skirts, no make-up -sorry ladies, there just are not as many examples to single out guys with). If all it takes to be a witness and show "fruits" is to look different, then that is EASY!

When was the last time you heard a preacher pour out from his heart and the heart of God about repentance, turning from sin and unto the Lord?

In the churches I have been in, it has not been at all in some. The focus was upon water baptism in Jesus name, but no mentioning of repentance. So, I ask, when was the last time the preacher preached the Gospel and called souls to repentance?
Twice today. Both services. Both from the inner man angle. So I think perhaps you have been unfortunate in the churches you have attended.

But, what I have seen, and what I have read in scripture, shows me that we need not teach holiness standards as salvational, because if a soul has truly repented before the Lord, those standards will mature in the believer. In other words, by the fruit of a believer shall that individual be known.

I have come across die hard Baptist brethren lately whose holiness is not primarily in their outer appearance (and yes, I do consider them brethren). Their holiness comes from a heart that is repentant before God and desires to live holy before the Lord. Their prayer life is outstanding, and their love for souls is beyond parallel. Holiness is birthed from repentance, and is something that we do not need to hammer in standards, but in repentance.

I have seen it, where a person comes to Christ and truly repents. Give them maybe two weeks, and if their repentance is genuine, you will witness the change in their life, and start hearing them question what they should do or not do. That is something birthed of the Spirit, and not taught by man. When I see this, it shows the sign of true repentance and holiness before the Lord.

Bro. Price,

FWIW, while I rejoice in your love for Christ, I lament your jaded opinion of what a true conservative is. It appears to me that either you (and many others on this forum) have only been exposed to the far right, extreme conservative camp or you purposely try to use the most extreme conservative ideologies to broad-brush all conservatives in an attempt to justify your newfound enlightenment.

As what most here would call an UC, I fellowship with many of the UC camp, and have only seen the harsh things of which I see you and others speak, from the extreme far right cons who aren't sure if they themselves are good enough to be saved, let alone you or I. The truth of the matter is that oneness Pentecostals in general are not the most friendly bunch in the world. In the UPCI, ALJC, PAW, PCAF, PAJC, AWCF, WPF, FBI, CIA, etc, there are clicks and if you are not part of the group it is hard to break in.

Preaching repentance is done by most of the Apostolic churches that I have seen. (There are thousands that I have no true assessment of) In fact most of the churches that I have been associated with throughout the years have had consistent teaching/preaching on repentance. In nearly every conference I have attended, I have heard at least one message on repentance that has brought the majority of the house to their knees weeping before the Lord.

Bro. White used to have as his tag line "conservative not caustic." I personally believe this is how the majority of conservatives are. (I am going to make a comparison here that I may get shot for....here goes anyway) While I am totally against the Muslim/Islamic religion, not all muslims are wacked out, bomb toting extremists. Yet it is those extremists that we hear about, because their ideology and practice is so extreme, and all muslims are judged to a great extent because of these extremists. From what I have been able to see, the crowd of conservatives that you previously ran with were Apostolic extremists. (Did I just say that?) They are men who believe what they believe and are willing to die for those beliefs, (we all should be willing to die for our beliefs) and not afraid to take out anyone (Spiritually and verbally) who opposes them.

I implore you, please do not assume that all cons are this way! I have often said to the UC, I am a liberal, and to the liberal, I am a UC. Where does this place me? BALANCED. IMHO that is where God desires all of us to be.

Be careful not to fall into the trap that has ensnared so many others, which is mirroring the very thing we despise. While decrying the hypocrisy and judgmental attitudes of some, we begin to do the same thing from the other side of the spectrum.
