Jesus...our only hope!!

This was emailed to me in a newsletter from the Southern Gospel group I am going to hear in concert Sunday night. I thought I'd share a portion with you and hope it blesses your heart tonight as it has mine...

Have you ever seen a picture from an aerial view? Wow! It brings such a different perspective to your home or property. You don’t realize when you’re walking around below that there is a completely different view from above and from that point, you can virtually see everything with just one glance. The front of your home, the back, both sides, and even details that go unnoticed on any given day are clearly visible.

In the past seven years that our family has been on this musical journey, we have been made very aware at different times that God is all knowing and we know so very little. If you would have told me seven years ago that doors of ministry would have opened like they have, I would have said, "It’s impossible!" We simply stepped out on pure faith and set out to follow a calling on our lives.

Humanly, we were scared to death. Now more than seven years later, I look back and realize that we have been led every step of the way by a God who created us, loves us more than we can even comprehend, and has a specific, carved-out plan for our lives.

You say, what about it? Here’s the deal… As a human being, I’ve been guilty at times of getting the human in the way of the divine. I know that "a good man’s steps are ordered by the Lord." I believe that! Having said that, I’ve questioned the Lord just to make sure that He knew what He was asking of us. "Are you sure, God?" I’ll admit I like my comfort zones. My box fits me perfectly and better yet, it’s warm and cozy. It’s what I’m used to. Well, I have discovered on this journey that if I’m going to get out of my box and do something that will make a difference in this world, it will sometimes require blind faith and complete trust in God, period.

If my life is totally surrendered to God, then I shouldn’t put on the brakes when He says, "Do it this way… or that way". At times I’ve thought, "Lord, that makes absolutely no sense. That’s uncomfortable for me." Then I remember the verse in Proverbs that says, "Commit (or surrender) your ways to the Lord, and your plans will succeed."

How will they succeed when I have no control? It’s simple, God has an aerial view of our lives. He owns the blueprint. When God asks something of us, He can see the whole picture, we can't. I’m walking around below with a very limited view of things. God sees the road behind me, the road ahead of me, the bends, the unexpected twists, and the possible crashes long before I even get there! He has our best interest in mind.

With that thought, why wouldn’t we want to place our trust in things we cannot see, when we have a God who sees ALL things? Now that encourages me
.

It encourages me as well...

Hear my voice when I cry
O Lord, my Rock
Be not silent unto me
Lest I fall in the pit
Hear me voice, O Lord
When I lift my hands to thee

Oh, I need you everyday
I need you all the way

Hear my voice, O Lord
When I lift my hands to thee

A word from the Word...

If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake,
the same shall save it (Luke 9:23-24).

What is on my heart today...

Oh, my friend, He is so near that you could touch Him
His sweet presence this old world could ne'er replace
So won't you let His Spirit warm you
And let His mighty love transform you
While the Spirit of Jesus is in this place

Oh, the Spirit of Jesus is in this place
I can see the change that He's making on each face
And when the power of heaven is tapped
Then something good is bound to happen
While the Spirit of Jesus is in this place

And when the power of heaven is tapped
Then something good is bound to happen
While the Spirit of Jesus is in this place

What is on my heart today...

Central’s never “busy,” always on the line;
You may hear from heaven almost any time;
’Tis a royal service, free for one and all;
When you get in trouble, give this royal line a call.

Refrain:
Telephone to glory, oh, what joy divine!
I can feel the current moving on the line,
Built by God the Father for His loved and own,
We may talk to Jesus through this royal telephone.
There will be no charges, telephone is free,
It was built for service, just for you and me;
There will be no waiting on this royal line,
Telephone to glory always answers just in time.

Fail to get the answer, Satan’s crossed your wire,
By some strong delusion, or some base desire;
Take away obstructions, God is on the throne,
And you’ll get your answer through this royal telephone.

If your line is “grounded,” and connection true
Has been lost with Jesus, tell you what to do:
Prayer and faith and promise mend the broken wire,
Till your soul is burning with the Pentecostal fire.

Carnal combinations cannot get control
Of this line to glory, anchored in the soul;
Storm and trial cannot disconnect the line,
Held in constant keeping by the Father’s hand divine.

We NEVER sing this song anymore...haven't heard it in years.
