Does it concern me, yes, but I don't worry about it because worry doesn't change anything.
This is true.

Okay, Alter Ego. I'm serious now. I have been reading reports that are not in line with what the mainstream media is saying. I'd have to pull all of that together and I don't have the time.

I was not making fun of you, per se. I was making fun of some of the scare tactics from the past. If it looked that way I am sorry.

I want you to say you forgive me. I won't post on this thread any more. I promise.

Re: Are You Eliminating Debt/Backstocking Food?

Hmmm. We pay cash for everything, and the only significant debt we have is a mortgage pmt., truck pmt., and a large medical bill from when Jeffrey was born. We never use credit cards. If we want something, we save up the money and buy it. And then its ours. Forever. No matter what catastrophes take place.

As for stockpiling foods...the only foods that can be stockpiled are canned & dry goods, and bottled water. I would say that what we have in our pantry would get us through a couple of weeks if "something" happened.

We keep basic medications on hand. Um...we have 1 gun, and ammo. We have plenty of blankets already--no need to buy more. We have a couple of ricks of firewood in the barn.

However. I have a hard time taking these "warnings" seriously. I remember sitting in service in 1999, while a former pastor said (from the pulpit), "Those of you who have been too foolish to prepare for the worst, don't come knocking on my door for food when your babies are starving to death." (Nice, huh? LOL!) My husband, who is an engineer, had told him that Y2K wasn't going to happen. We didn't prepare for anything. We went to bed early on December 31, 1999.

It's always good to have basic supplies on hand--that's just practical. But preparing for some sort of disaster in a panicky or extreme fashion? I'll refrain. The Lord will take care of us. He always has; He always will.
