You know the giant Jesus in Rio? Here he is in the movie 2012, about to do some crowd surfing:

Well, the Rio de Janiero Jesus is still standing tall, but the Rock Church TDJ (Touchdown Jesus) is not standing. Hmmm, the Rio Jesus was was orignally a Catholic project (a priest obtained financing from princess Isabel.) But TDJ was Evangelical. So, was the God-In-Charge-of-Lightning trying to send a message?.
Naturalist answer: No. The catholicks were smart enough to install lightning rods to protect Jesus, but the evangelicals were not so smart. Kinda makes sense, since the catholick church has a 450 year history of denying science, but then embracing it, whereas the evangelical movement only has a 150 year history.
Or maybe the God-In-Charge-of-Lightning still does specifically direct lightning bolts, but only when he gets really, REALLY mad.

So, you think Evangelicals are due to embrace science in 300 years? Yeah. Makes sense.

Funny how that works. With modern medicine, we more often hear claims about where medicine missed its mark, way more than the successful hits--which actually exist in orders of magnitude greater. But with prayer for divine healing, the majority we ever hear claimed are the hits, not the misses--which actually exist in orders of magnitude greater. God is afforded "whatever" results, and whenever, potentially into eternity, but human doctors are held accountable, within a day, or week, or month.

It couldn't be because one system actually works (by and large) and the other actually doesn't (for the most part), could it? Nah....
