Re: Who was Harry Morse ?
Andrew Urshan was not at Azusa Street. He was friends with a guy who was at Azusa Street. That guy was Harry Morse. If Urshan had other friends from Azusa Street, I have not found them.

Hmmm maybe I’m wrong. But I just finished reading his biography again, and I thought I saw a reference to him being there for a short while. I’ve loaned the book out, but when I get it back I’ll try to fact check that.
Maybe he went by to find out who Harry Morse was?

Re: Who was Harry Morse ?
I'll check his bio tomorrow. He
was at Los Angeles in 1918 for a revival. He does mention Azuzites, as he called them. I will post about his Azusa connection tomorrow.

Re: Who was Harry Morse ?
Andrew Urshan timeline
1901 immigrated to US via Hamburg, Germany. He lived in Yonkers for 6 months and then moved to Chicago.
Urshan lived in Chicago and lived there from 1901 - 1913.
11/1913 Urshan is in London, England for a month. He then travels to Persia. He is there from 3/1914 until he leaves in 8/1915 and then returns to USA via Russia.
Upon returning, he evangelizes and has revival in Los Angeles in 1918.
Ushan travels evangelizing, while keeping a home(1920-1921) in St. Paul, MN. He then moves to Manhattan, NY and lives there from 1942-1949.
In 1951, Urshan moves to Long Beach, Ca. and lives there the rest of his life (1967).
As far as Azusa contacts are concerned, William Durham says Urshan visited his church in Los Angeles in 1912. Harry Van Loon and Frank Ewart are mentioned in the same article.
Urshan preached several times for Harry Morse on Oakland.
Mattie Hammond visited the 1918 Los Angeles revival.
But I cannot find Urshan connected with William Seymour or the Apostolic Faith Mission at Azusa Street. Seymour and the others are not mentioned at the Urshan 1918 revival.
I cannot find any mention of him in the Apostolic Faith Magazine. Nor can I find any mention of him in any Pentecostal literature prior to 1910.
If there is some connection between Urshan and Seymour or the AFM, I would love to see it. Not every event is documented and these events took place over a century ago.
I do have a new old pic of Urshan from when he was in Persia. Now I need to figure out how to post it here.

Re: Who was Harry Morse ?
Writing biographies can be frustrating. The obit for Winnifred Westfield, early Oneness evangelist, was one simple paragraph. According to her obit, her greatest accomplishment was being the first white baby born on a certain reservation. In fact, she was a music teacher, mission worker, church planted and evangelist for the better part of 60 years.
I did find a person I hope to interview soon who knew Harry Morse.
Such is the stuff of life, the frustration and the hope.
More data came in this week about speakers at the Morse church during the 1950-1960 era. Despite being the post war period, they certainly had a lot of revivals. At least one per month. Some lasting for 5 weeks.
My, how times have changed. I have not been part of a church with any multiple day speaker in years beyond count. Not since my college days.

Re: Who was Harry Morse ?
Women evangelists from the 1950's who preached for Harry Morse:
1952 LaDonna Glennie
1955 Terrie Leila Cornette
1955 Lillian Arrias
1955 Jonny Ruth Lewis
1956 Eveylin Blackledge
1956 Mary E. Durst
Do any of these names ring a bell ??

Re: Who was Harry Morse ?
Frank H. Denny, Azusa Street revival participant, was a missionary to China from 1910-1913. He returned and was at the Arroyo Seco campmeeting in 1914.
He returned to China and his family became ill due to a fever. His wife, Clara, died and although he did recover, his intellect was impacted for years to come.
David remarried a gal from New Jersey. In 1926, he tried to return to China, but became distraught, or confused, and visited his daughter in Alberta, Canada, instead.
He was friends with George Studd and in his senior years he and Studd worshipped at the same small church in Pasadena, Ca. This small church was the first pastorate David F. Gray had.
I cannot find any more data about Frank H. Denny. He was born in Pennsylvania in 1870. Not sure when where or when he died.
The usual references are of no help.
Any leads ??
