You're typing this as you're on the internet; which in many people's opinion is worse than television. But whatever. The ignorance and hypocrisy of the anti-tv crowd is sad.

Do you play any board or card games, sir? I hope you preach against them, too, because FFL's are nothing more than that - a game.

Actually it does say something about porn. You should put your nose in The Book if you don't think so.

Oh dear Lord, you're one of those kind of Pastor!

Newsflash for you, sir: It's not YOUR church; it's HIS.

Re: The Little G's

I have a very simple view of this. We will worship someone or something whether it be the one and true God, sports, entertainment, money, people, church traditions, our own standards of "holiness" or even ministries. We will worship something. We will promote what we worship. It will be the thing that we seek to relate to the most and what we wish for others to identify us with. If we worship Jesus, we will promote Jesus. If we worship self, we will promote self before over Jesus. If we worship entertainment, we will promote the thing that entertains us over Jesus. Instead of railing against one little g.we should preach the worship of God above all else. Simply picking specific things like sports or TV gives an easy out for those who are quick to worship other things just so long as it isnt TV or sports. Lets preach principles.

I try to be respectful of another person's prejudices...I mean convictions, HOWEVER, how DARE you say that someone who has a TV in their home is NOT Apostolic?!

Just who are you to make such a declaration?

Where is this outlined in the Apostles Doctrine?

I am SO glad that I do not allow the silliness of an opinion to cloud my knowledge of who I am and Whose I am.

Sir, you need to calm down and take a personal soul check.

And one more thing while my rant meter is on overdrive...

We keep reading concerning the things you preach against?

Just what do you preach for?

Re: The Little G's

Matt. 23:24 "Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel."

I am amazed at the inconsistencies of some. Let me paraphrase Matt 23:24 for you.

BeenThinkin 23:24 Ye blind Apostolic (not all!) guides, pastors, bishops, present day deacons, prophets and saints, which strain at a TV (and what is seen thereon) and swallow an internet. (Which is filled with all filthyness and what ever you choose to display on your desk top).

Really! Where is your honesty? On a TV you are limited to programing that is displayed for your looking at any certain time. And oh yes, there are the ads. (Have you tried opening up anything lately on the internet without a 15 to 30 second ad jumping up without your asking for it?....and oh, go ahead and try to stop the ad!)

What can you watch on the computer, ipad, ipod, cell phone, tablet, etc.? WHATEVER YOU WANT TO WATCH, from pure filthy porno....(any flavor you choose....need I state the obvious?) to chat forums where you can talk to anyone you choose... be it someone's else's wife or husband, or a man portraying himself as a beautiful, sexy woman, or a pedophile looking for another child to destroy. And oh, by the way, you can see anything that is displayed on TV, for the most part!

Now the age old argument is you don't have to watch any of the things that I have mentioned on the computer. You choose what you want to see. Well blow me down, I have never had anyone come into my home and make me watch anything on TV that I didn't want to watch.

The world must look at all of the Apostolic, Pentecostal and other TV fanatics and wonder what in the world are they doing on the "evil computer"? Now please don't misunderstand me..... I'm not against the TV, the Internet, or whatever, no more than I am not against the car, (which can take me to get beer, go to a house of ill repute, go see someone else's wife or go park in a lover's lane)!

In this world we live in I can do whatever I choose. It seems like some think being a Christian should be like the following. When you get in church then the pastor will monitor everything you say and do, where you buy your car, where you buy your home, where you go on vacation, who your friends are, what you have in your home, where you go, how much time you spend doing anything of enjoyment, etc. Now when the church grows a little he can't cover everything with his protecting eye so he has others in the church that keep an eye on you. (You don't think this happens? You haven't been down the Pentecostal Road I've traveled.)

I seem to recall a scripture that said this... Php 2:12 "Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling."

I prefer the Holy Ghost speaking to my heart and directing my every step. And by the way, if allowed too, HE WILL!

I better quit! I hate long posts and this one has turned into that. Forgive me!

The shinier the idol is, the more I can see myself reflected in it.

The biggest gods I have ever seen in church have been the 'standards'. FAR more than anything done outside of church that wasn't church related.

Thats one reason we left our Apostolic Church besides the fact it was really small, was the Standards, you know how they believe and you know they know how they believe, but they do small stuff to ride the fence like cut there hair alittle or get manacure and pedicures done but preach against makeup.

There was certainly enough hypocrisy to fill a swimming pool but I my strongest memory is people sitting (or standing) around glorying in their list with each person so proud of how many boxes they had checked off with a red pen. Like a scavenger hunt. My, they so enjoyed seeing people squirm who didn't have the same boxes checked off whenever the pastor preached a strong holiness sermon!
