Nobody here is talking about license to sin....we're talking about responding to a message of Good News....and the Good News is that I have life in Jesus Christ. It would be silly to suggest that one does not have to turn away from sin, but I am drawn to God for what he offers me, not from what I avoid...you can go on ahead and keep serving God with the main focus to avoid hell fire....I will focus on better things, things that offer life, things that fill me up for serving such an awesome God who loves me even while I am sinful and he teaches me to pray daily, asking for forgiveness of my sins...I mean are we to think that sins only have to be the ones people consider high on a some scale they have...or do we sin just when respond to a friend or family member in a harsh way....Cmon now, Dan....get with it!

Jeff ... no one disagrees w/ you ... the positive aspects of serving God are appealing and well documented ... but the greatest miracle he does in our lives is not what some preachers today are presenting .... prosperity, purpose ...etc.
the greatest miracle is salvation from sin and death ...
One might get all the perks ... and one may not ... yet if all he does for us is save us from sin ... IT'S ENOUGH.

That sounds like a reward to me if I do his will...

yes ... IN the inverse ... but in context ... it's not an invitation as you originally suggested but a punishment for POSERS.

next verse ... J....
22Many will say to Me in that day, "Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?' 23And then I will declare to them, "I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'

Righteous judgment indeed comes from God. He cannot be holy and not judge. It seems you are making a defense of how a sinner should be approached. Tha he should be encouraged without conviction. Hard to do scripturally, IMO.

Not strange to me considering the subject at hand. What is somewhat strange to me is your view on all of this.

Jesus Sends Out the Twelve
1He called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority to drive out evil[a] spirits and to heal every disease and sickness.
2These are the names of the twelve apostles: first, Simon (who is called Peter) and his brother Andrew; James son of Zebedee, and his brother John; 3Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; 4Simon the Zealot and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him.
5These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: "Do not go among the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans. 6Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel. 7As you go, [B]preach this message: 'The kingdom of heaven is near.' 8Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons.
