Yes, I am concerned about an Obama presidency.
I am very concerned about the direction our country is going. I believe America has reached its peak, and is on a downward spiral. I believe it peaked about 20 years ago and only momentum kept it rising for the last 18 years while the foundations were crumbling away.
I think we have reached a point now where the foundations of our country have been compromised so greatly that now the tower that was America is starting to crumble and fall. We are currently at a turning point. I think it is possible to save America, by turning back to the constitution, enforcing the laws we have, reforming the tax system, and electing people into office that will stand for whats right and appoint judges who will back up the constitution, bill of rights, and ignore special interest groups.
Right now, I believe Sarah Palin is the only person who even comes close to fitting that bill.
The media, and politicians are so deceitful, and the populace are literally led along like lambs to the slaughter that I really don't see it happening without a literal miracle from God. I believe we should pray for that.
I sincerely believe that if Obama wins, we will have turned the corner and passed the point of no return. He will push America over the edge and it will crumble to a far less powerful and free country.
HOWEVER
God will always have a church!
Where evil doth abound, Grace doth much more abound!
Greater is he that is within me than he that is in the world!
As long as the Church is on the earth there is hope.
The bible says that "In that day think not of what ye will eat and drink" God will provide.
Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and all these things will be added unto you.
Gods promises do not change with the economy, or the abundance or lack of freedoms in a country. His promises do not change with the rise and fall of nations.
Am I concerned for my future? Even more so for my children's future?
Absolutely. But I will not focus on dread or fear or even the giant of the decline of the greatest country on earth.
I will focus on drawing closer to God, and teaching my children the same. I will focus on developing their prayer life, their worship and devotion to God. Their commitment and involvement in the church. I will do all I can to prepare them for whatever is to come.
Then I will TRUST GOD to step beyond what I can do, beyond the natural. I will trust God to provide supernatural help, support and intervention.
I will trust God to protect, preserve and strengthen my family and the legacy we leave our children.
No matter how big the giant, how dark the hour, how evil the world. GOD IS GREATER.
We must never look at the size of the challenge. We absolutely must keep our eyes on the size of our God.

I would concur. Amen.

Yes this is off topic. =)
If you do love the people and feel a call to minister to them I think you would also feel a desire to live among them. Just a personal thought.
To me is sounds more like you have a burden for India but I am not sure you really have a desire to minister there.
Understand I am not attacking you I am just wondering about your wording.
Now to the subject. =)
My boss told me I could work from anywhere I lived as long as I paid for the internet access. I actually told my kids if Obama or Clinton got the presidency to expect to move out of the country. I was only half joking. I have felt for a long time that I would move one day to a different country but just do not know where. As a missionary you ask? HA, Yeah right. Me a missonary. I know people who would absolutely turn over in their graves if that were to ever happen.
I would be more than happy to go and work my job and be a servent of God UNDER a missionary some place. Just need to know what place. When God tells me that I will be there lickity split.
|
One must abide in their calling, God called me to minister to Indian People but he has not called me to live there. I don't know how to explain it anymore than that.
But that is off topic.

Re: How will you respond to an Obama Presidency
Ps. 9:17 - The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.
America's only hope is:
2 Chronicles 7:14 - If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
What gets me about the above scripture, is it says the people of name must turn from their wicked ways. I believe too many Christians have put God on a shelf and don't realize they have pursued ways not pleasing to God. They must first realize wickedness has entered the camp and then begin to seriously repent. JMHO

Re: How will you respond to an Obama Presidency
Hay people, he hasn't won yet, my God is a great God. I won't accept defeat until it comes and then I won't accept it because He's still on the throne. If my people which are called by my name shall humble themselves and pray.

God is still sovereign.

Re: How will you respond to an Obama Presidency
Seems like some folks who claim to like democracy obviously like it until it actually happens.
How would I react to an Obama presidency? The same way I would hope any american living in a democracy would react.
I'd still agree to the sentiments of "Hail to the Chief" - the great song that is played at a presidential appearance.
Most of you have heard it but may not be familiar with the lyrics.
It was first played for John Quincy Adams and was originally part of Walter Scott's "Lady of the Lake."
Albert Gamse wrote the modern lyrics and they are rarely sung which is a shame.
They perfectly portray the attitude we should have toward our chief executive whether we voted for him or not.
The lyrics do not demand worship or reverence for a dictator - but a "salute" and "cooperation" for the "chief."
So to President Obama my sentiments would go:
Hail to the Chief we have chosen for the nation,
Hail to the Chief! We salute him, one and all.
Hail to the Chief, as we pledge cooperation
In proud fulfillment of a great, noble call.
Yours is the aim to make this grand country grander,
This you will do, that's our strong, firm belief.
Hail to the one we selected as commander,
Hail to the President! Hail to the Chief!
