Re: Evangelicals & Nervous Breakdowns

hmmmmmm....negative news.....always.....brings more attention than positive. Over a period of time, I developed an enlarged heart. I had very few posts when I reported the miracle of my heart being healed. I even have scientific proof that my heart shrank. Hearts do not shrink naturally. Isn't it amazing that threads about "hair" and "standards" and "cons" vs "libs" gets more attention than GODS AMAZING GRACE!!!!!!!!
Blessings to all!!!

I do beileve strongly that good, solid Bible based counseling is sorely needed in many churches. Too often people do not deal with issues and developed a "Real Christians don't cry" type attitude and live with many unresolved emotions. I believe that God has given me a real revelation in this area but I can't say much 'cause I'm working on a book about it.

I guess as a healthcare professional, I see illness in the body much the same way I see a car with a mechanical problem. Don't you think God gave your doctors the intellect and knowledge to be able to help your medical needs? No, God might not send you a supernatural miracle of healing. He might let you (and want you to) be healed through the miracle of modern medicine. One of our monthly "thoughts" this summer at my hospital was "Work as though everything depended on you. Pray as though everything depended on God."

Sounds like a great book... I'd like a copy also...with an original signature since it will be a best seller!

There are certain natural vitamins and minerals that work better than some prescribed medications for mood stabilization and anxiety. Omega 3-Fish oil is good for most people, and St. Johns Wort is good also. I took St. John's Wort when going through my Bachelor's program because I was a single parent, working, and going to school. My anxiety levels were really high and it helped me stay focused.

As far as antibiotics go, the body doesn't build a tolerance..... The bacteria does. And yes, it is (or has been) dramatically overprescribed.

St Johns Wort is VERY dangerous. It has shown to have slight effects on mood, but the danger is that it interacts with SO many other drugs in very bad ways. It is also not regulated so you have no idea how much active ingredient you are getting in any single pill.

Technically, the bacteria develops a resistance to an overused antibiotic. This happens when you go to the Dr and get a Rx and then you feel better after you take it a few days. So you stop taking it. Well, not all the bacteria are dead. The only ones left alive are the ones that were more resistant to the drug you were taking. Now, they can multiply. This is how we have staph that is resistant to a whole class of drugs.

St John's Wort does interact with a lot of drugs. It's very important to tell your healthcare provider about everything you are taking.
