Re: Branson Meeting

If missionaries could work closely together instead of in competition then the world could be evangelized at a faster rate…that does not mean we have to see eye to eye for that will never happen...
I never told my boys much less my girls about all the fighting in the states...It was quite a surprize to them...

Re: Branson Meeting

let me say once again I am not upc so I am not taking up for them. I am trying to look at the work of God and not a card...

Re: Branson Meeting

please take note I am not trying to offend anyone...I just think some things would be better off not said on the mission field...
I love the work of the Lord and I am sure each one that writes here sacrifices great things for the kingdom...may His kingdom on earth be as His kingdom in heaven.

Re: Branson Meeting

Why don´t you come and visit us in Brazil? You would find a precious group of saints that by mouth KNOW nothing of America´s woes...sometimes they find things out through others and come and ask me if I knew I just smile at them...

I don´t want to run down others for I may need them tomorrow...I know there are a few people that destroy themselves...there is nothing I can do about people like that. Some people will not listen...

Not long ago Brother Alvear and I sat beside an old dying pastor...he had been in about every Jesus Name work in Brazil...stolen money from us, sold churches and pocketed the money...planted strife in the heart of his own children ...sought power in each group he belonged to...underminded leaders...etc...
He called for us and we went...he hardly had the strength to ask forgivness...we wept with him and told him all was well and we had no hard feelings that he could die in peace...
I have seen so many get wrapped up in church fights...and maybe not loose their souls but their children´s souls were lost over things they heard and saw...

In fact the pastors who I preached for in Bohol did not even know I was not UPCI. They did not know because we had no discussion with them regarding the UPCI/WPF. We were in Bohol to plan a conference for later this year (which has been done for the past 7-8 years) not to recruit members to the WPF.

I did make a WPF presentation to pastors in Manila, in a meeting that I arranged and sponsored. This was with a group of pastors that I have worked with for a number of years who are independent, and from what was posted here on AFF, are folks that the UPCI wouldn't be interested in. There were some UPCI ministers who attended that meeting, however, they were not invited by us. They came at the invite of some of my Philippine pastors. We made it very clear to all of them that the WPF was a new Fellowship forming in the states and that we did not know when/if we would be establishing a WPF Philippines, as that is not really part of the missions structure of the WPF.

I will not engage in a long drawn out discussion on this topic again..........however, when I see untruths being stated, I get a little agitated.

Please do not take my response as a personal attack. I am not against anyone on this forum, I just think we need to be factual.
I got this information from a minister that just got back from the Philippines in the last few weeks.

I understand, however, your source is incorrect. I know that there are many rumors going around both here in the states and in the PI. They are simply that......rumors. Again I was there and I know what was or was not offered. I have said it before and I will say it again.......let anyone produce a single pastor/leader or otherwise that we either spoke to directly or that was in any one of our meetings/services who will be willing to make an official statement that they were offered money by any one of the three of us that were there. It won't happen, because it didn't happen!

I know I am new here but it is interesting that this thread has taken a turn towards missions sometime after I posted this. I am the son of a long, long, time missionary who has been pioneering in the way he trains and equips the nationals. He is in a country that has suffered a lot in the last few decades and at some points the UPCI was the only foreign assistance in the country. My perspective of all of this is shaded by my concern of what potential impact some of these things can have on global evangelism...which I'm sure we can all agree is our primary purpose as a church.
With my parents being on the mission field for more than 25 years, I can appreciate some of the stories about things possibly not being done perfectly by every missionary. But I don't have the time to even begin to teall all the great success stories that I know as well.

Re: Branson Meeting

And that is why you will not find me speaking evil of the UPCI or any other group...we are all humans and of course mistakes are made. Does the UPCI do everything right? OF course not! Have I done everything right? Of course not! Sadly mistakes are made...we are all flesh and blood...however we are penetrating the dark night of paganism and we desperately need one another. We can do far more united than we can do divided.
There may have been a time that lone mavricks were needed but today we need joint efforts to reach the masses of men and women that will be forever lost unless we reach them.
I do not have time to fight my brother...the night is far spent the day is at hand...

Re: Branson Meeting

I may go, but Branson is just about as corrupt a place as Vegas. Still deciding on this one. I may also be booked that weekend.
