What was the distribution? He didn't send it out to the UPCI mailing list (or at least not yet). If he wanted real drama he could have gone that route.

Still it seems to be a lot of weight is being put behind such a trivial issue. At least trivial to me. VM seems to be saying that this isn't "the straw that broke the camel's back" but an intolerable weight in and of itself.

you gotta remember he is very old fashiond and up in years pelathais.

I give him a pass simply because i understand the mentality of the old gaurd.

also, i think in his heart of hearts he really didn't want to leave. that's all i will say

My father is a minister and I have heard the names of some well know ministers in our organization (UPCI) leaving. I remember Morton's name growing up; just wondering if it is the person I think it is. Don't be surprised it's an honest question.

Not surprising.

If Vaughn Morton gave a million bucks to the St. Jude Foundation, there would be some people criticizing him for it just because they don't like him and what he stands for.

I hope some of you penny ante critics know how utterly petty and pathetic your little nit picks sound.

I feel like I need to go take a shower.

But has he ever done something like that? Has he or any of the other guys who are leaving taken up a generous offering for charity or sponsored a soup kitchen on Thanksgiving or established a home for unwed mothers or opened their family life centers for a mobile health clinic to offer free or low cost medical attention for the poor? Why is this kind of thing not focused on in our ranks?

I can't remember our churches actually reaching out to provide for the physical needs of the less fortunate in the community.

We did provide much love and support for those who regularly attended church. If there was a death in the family, the ladies were on the ball bringing covered dishes and the men helping in any way they could. The congregation surrounds their own with care and concern. That is wonderful and good, but what about those outside the doors of the church?

Just a thought...

Oooh, good question, however it is the wrong one. We both know if TJ drafts such a letter, while it may be a little more scathing, it will, no doubt be classy.

I am curious whether he will draft a letter at all...is he leaving too BTW?

Dora,...er.....I think Coonperson was just trying to make a point. That he believes no matter how good of a thing this guy might do people would find fault in it. In other words he could not have written a letter that would not have been criticized by some people no matter what it said.

CC1...derrrr...I know that...but his comment just brought this thought to my mind...excuse me for taking it there...

These guys are so busy trying to obliterate outward standards violations that the deeper spiritual and actual physical needs of the lost are on the second or third page of their priority lists.

btw...there's nuthin' wrong with his letter...
