Disturbing Trends or Christian Maturity?

Jesus wept. He had compassion on the multitudes, but do we ever read of Jesus or His apostles running and jumping and shockamooing? I am not against this. I believe in God moving upon people and the reaction to the Spirit. However, we don't see a lot of what we call "shouting" in scripture. On the day of Penetecost, those standing by perceived that those who were in the upper room might be drunken - but what did that mean? Were they staggering? Where they so happy that they were laughing? Were they acting so care free and laid back? What are the opinions regarding "we are not drunk as ye suppose"? What exactly do you think was happening? I am new here, but I would like to know the opinions of others.

Joy was always a component of being filled with the spirit. They were filled with joy and it was overflowing and showing on them.

The other thought is that they heard them speaking on dialects that they knew these men should not be speaking in. They might have thought of this as babbling, like a drunken person mght do.

I have seen the prayers for mass healings in large conferences. Doesn't bother me, but also they need to pray for those obviously infirmed.

There are times when we are in a prayer meeting that Eddie asks everyone that is comfortable, and can, to pray in tongues. I don't find that offensive, since we are all interceding together. We don't do that in our services though, as it would cause confusion.

JMHO on these issues....

If I get to go back to Hawaii after this trip to Honolulu it will be to Maui. I have heard it is actually much nicer than Honolulu.

I have no desire to ever go to Honolulu again, unless I could just stay at the JW Marriott at the other end of the island and eat there and never leave it. Driving there is horrendous!!!

Maui, on the other hand, is relaxed and beautiful. We have been twice, once with the kids and once by ourselves. I will definitely go back there. Wonderful food, beautiful beaches, and good shopping.

Speaking of being drunk in the Holy Ghost.... I read on another forum were at the imfamous NYC a boy was saying he was so drunk in the Spirit that his friends had to carry him to his Hotel room. While they were walking back they met a cop who thought the boy was drunk. Just curious is that a good witness?

Apparently good enough for those in the Upper Room on the day of Pentecost as they were mistaken for being drunk!
