Uh..., yep. I would argue it is quite presumptuous though...
SH, how is it presumptuous to think you are responsible for reaching the souls in the city where you live? You're really overreacting to MM's comments.

I think the idea is taking responsibility for the souls one is unable to reach because of a reluctance to use progressive technology to do so. I can see where you might derive that meaning, but I can assure you that Matt Maddix is not so much of a "company man" that he believes the UPCI is the only group reaching for souls.
When I think of reaching souls in Tulsa, OK, I don't think of the population, and then divide it by the number of churches, and say something like..well...our church is now only responsible for...25,000 souls. I think we are ALL responsible to reach ALL lost souls that are in our ability to reach.
Finding that meaning in his letter is a stretch is all I'm saying.
Yes, ma'am. It's in the letters and numbers, but it isn't in the main topic of the paragraph, or the spirit of the letter. If MM were given a chance to field the question, 'are ALJC members saved?' he would answer in the affirmative.

Even seeing that you have xxx members, let's say 1000.
There are 25000 to be reached by your church. You are 24000 shy!
(not to say your church is NOT reaching Tulsa, only thinking here)

OK - if you say so. It is one dominant veiw in the UPC, unfortunately, and I am reading letter as if the other churches are not in the equation.
Sorry if that is not in there...

I think maybe you are right.
I quit.

I agree with your comments, actually. I don't know very many churches in this area who are really emphasizing evangelism the way it ought to be emphasized.

If you know Matt this article is him speaking from his heart.....for those of you who do not know him.....pick him apart....he can handle it >>.......I PROMISE you he can.......as a matter of fact....give him a call.....but be ready to answer questions like
How many souls have you won
What are you doing to reach a world
and so forth and so on.......
I may not agree with everything that he says, but I respect him for his stand and what he is and has done to stir the movement...........there are very few with his passion.........
No need to quit. Just adjust your posts to reflect my intelligence.
Have you interacted with Matt Maddix at all? Attended Boot Camp? Just curious.....

Not all 10000 go vote at GC either. Even when 8 years ago in Louisville we were electing a GS to replace NAU, they did not all vote. They did bring in bus loads to try to sway that vote though!
We are starting a sway from the Orignal Post already.
re read my post. I said that less than 50% will be at GC.
I realize that most dont vote. generally it is around 25% that go and vote. couple that with the fact that the younger generation is finding something else to do, and for me it means that something isnt right.

**oops, sorry**
RIGHT ON!!!!!
I have never agreed with you more and it took alot for you to come out and admit!
So...the question is ...BOOM....are you "wishy" or "Washy"???
