So, let me guess: you make sure to tell anybody you can about all of your spouse's faults, flaws, and failures, up front, so they don't make the 'error' of thinking said spouse might actually have some good qualities. And you say those 'ultracons' are mean spirited, negative, and nasty. Pot, meet kettle.

I suspect you want to convince yourself that Troy's motives were less than genuine in having this conversation in order to justify the reaction the people with whom he conversed.

CS life is much more simple and enjoyable when you give good people the benefit of the doubt. Debate the issue and lay off the speculation and conjecture of someone's motives---there's no way for you to know this and your bias against his stance on the issue skews your ability to just address the substance of his point.

Maybe you paid him to start that conversation knowing he would get shot down just so he could start this thread and then you could counter his original post making the pro tv side look bad and you could win the day for the anti-tv guys.

Maybe Troy made all of this up and he never had the conversation....

See where the arbitrary judgment of someone's motives takes you?

Deac,

He has jeered about this particular issue ever since he has been posting.

His manner has been caustic and cynical, which is ok...but them don't blame me for making a judgment based on his past actions.

And if he is making this up, he should have said so.

Look, I think our stance on tv and internet is silly, but I'm for sure not gonna bring that issue up to folks who don't even know the truth.

What was the purpose? I don't get it.

It's only embarrassing if you are faced with the current dilemma after preaching/teaching for years that it was wrong or "sinful".

There should be no problem in saying there is a difficulty in determining how we relate to current events and popular culture while protecting our children from undesirable aspects. Depending on their own walk with the Lord they may be able to contribute to such a discussion and may be honored that you include them in such provocative thought and debate.

Things the outside world thinks is crazy:
Our Worship
Speaking in tongues
Annointing with oil
Tithing
Faithful Church attendance
NO drinking alcohol
Stand against premarital sex
Our stand against homosexuality
Modesty
Fasting
Regular prayer sessions
Extended revivial meetings
Pastoral authority of any kind
Gifts of the Spirit
Just to name a few.

How can people outside of the household of faith ,who don't have the Holy Ghost really understand what living for God really means ?

Perhaps - or not, depending on who all "the world" is in your world....

Funny, but I do know some good old boy, non-practicing Christians that hate the "junk on TV".
