First of all using a Ron Paul quote to substantiate anything means nothing to me as the guy is a tin foil hat nutter.
It is absurd to say that it is illegal for a Presidential candidate to choose who he wants for his running mate before the convention. Just because the convention has to confirm that pick with a vote doesn't mean it is illegal.
Plus under your logic Romney can't even campaign as the presumptive nominee himself. because the Repub convention hasn't officially nominated him yet. Good grief!

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

I am against the dishonesty and the unseating of delegates in this primary season. It just shows me that at the outset, Romney is willing to be a dishonest man, along with the RNC. I'm sure you won't listen to this, but they are trying to bind freedom of speech and I won't support it.
Quote:
In the state of Maine, it is well documented that 21 of the 24 delegates are strong supporters of Congressman Ron Paul.
Those 21 delegates plan to go to Tampa later this month and cast a vote for Dr. Paul to receive the nomination.
A little over a week ago, 20 of those 21 delegates were told that their credentials were being challenged by Mr. Peter Cianchette (who headed the Romney campaign in Maine).
The grounds for the challenge; that 20 of these 21 delegates were illegally elected to represent Maine.
As a result, the RNC planned to not seat the entire Maine delegation at the RNC in Tampa.

This week, the Ron Paul contingent rejected a compromise offer made by Maine GOP Chair Charlie Webster in an attempt to end the conflict and seat the delegates. The agreement would have bound the delegates to voting for Romney and prevented them from voicing certain opinions publicly.

This is ILLEGAL. And what I have seen is that the Paul supporters had a very legal and organized ground game, Romney was thrown off his game over it. They simply were not prepared for it.
Also from the article:
Quote:
Governor Paul LePage, the only elected member of the delegation not challenged by Romney’s supporters, has announced that he will boycott the convention if the Ron Paul delegates are not seated.
An aside: Interesting that it was Peter Cianchette who filed the challenge. He’s a former state representative, gubernatorial candidate and U.S. Ambassador and this action would seem to preclude a political future for him in Maine’s new Tea Party-fueled GOP.

I don't want Obama to win, but I don't want our party cheating either. I'm disappointed.

Amen.
Let me add, I told you all that Romney was going to pick Ryan.
He is playing for the Wisconsin electoral votes. He has given up on Florida. Ryan is a good choice, but not the best choice. Romney/Ryan will lose against Obama/Biden.
The real conservative candidates are conserving their political capital for the election they might actually win.

Re: Romney VP Pick Today 9AM
PO,
Here is my view on things wrong with the Republican delegate process. I think we desperately need to change the caucus method where a radical fringe candidate like a Ron Paul can whip up some fervant supporters to show up and skew results to favor him when in reality he is the choice of a very small minority of Republicans. The Tin Foil Hatter'sdo the same thing with online polls. They fervently respond to them repeatedly to make it look like their numbers are stronger than they are. Similar to giving credence to a Fox News or CNN online poll. Each online poll will reflect the views of the majority of the networks viewers so Fox News always has conservative results and CNN liberal. Both are scientifically meaningless.
I wish the process for choosing delegates was a primary vote in every state. The caucus method is to open to undue influence such as I described above. a fringe candidate can pack the meeting with supporters.

JD - I believe Romney actually thinks he had/has a better shot at Florida than Wisconsin.
I think this was part of the reason for the Ryan pick.
I do believe they will lose, also.

You have stated, in the past, that you agree with 95% of what Ron Paul stands for and only have a problem with the other 5%. Don't know after making that type of statement you can call him a Tin Foil Hat.
Until all of this primary business starting talking shape, I had no idea how large this so-called fringe group really was. They are a very organized group of people and, of course, you have some of the strange individuals, but it's the insiders/the organizers that are intelligent and focused. I'm pretty impressed with what they are doing - just trying to corral the RNC back to it's roots of a smaller government and less intervention. Aside from some of the social issues, I don't have a problem with this. Let them work against big government, we need someone to do it. The RNC sure isn't trying.

The economy is too strong here. He is making his campaign about the economy and that argument will not work here.
Furthermore, Romney is not exactly the most popular Republican with the AARP.
Another thing to think about is most of your family-values voting Christians in Florida are simply not excited about voting for a guy with strange gods-- especially when so much time was spent convincing us that Obama was not a Christian and not an American and thus, not worthy of our vote.
But the Mormon is?
Where is the consistency?
I'm not being bigoted, I am applying our arguments against Obama to Romney and he fails to meet the same Christian standard that many Republicans were trying to show that Obama didn't meet.
At the bare minimum, many Republicans believe that IF Obama is even an American, his upbringing makes him out of touch with "mainstream" America. Yet, you're going to try to convince us that Mr. Romney is one of us? This illogical stupidity will not fly in Florida!
It was our party that encouraged a disdain for Obama on the same issues that some would like for us to ignore for Romney. Where is the consistency?
The selection of Romney was worse than the selection of Palin!
There is a reason that Rubio didn't strongly support Romney at the begining.
Rubio has a better shot of being President in 2016 than Romney has right now, or ever. Rubio is consistent and respected on the right and left.
Romney will not even carry his home state, but with Ryan being as popular as he is in his home state, Wisconsin will be easier to win for Romney/Ryan. Frankly, they MUST win Wisconsin if they want to be seated in the White House next year.
Even with a win in Wisconsin, Romney/Ryan will still probably lose. Their campaign strategy will be electoral college driven because popularity wise, it is IMPOSSIBLE for Romney/Ryan to beat Obama/Biden. If Romney/Ryan, it will be a very close, electoral college victory.
