To cast a demon out of the one being baptized?

Re: Why Baptize In Jesus Name

By the Grace of GOD, my wife and my children will be baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ, just like the Bible says.

Re: Why Baptize In Jesus Name

I posted this in another thread on baptism, but wanted to bring it to the attention of this thread also.

It is the consensus of many that the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus is the gospel, and repentence, baptism, and infiling of the Holy Spirit are the first actual steps towards salvation.

How do we reconcile the gospel and the steps of salvation to this verse in 1 Cor. 1:14-18?
14 I thank God that I baptized none of you, but Crispus and Gaius;

15 Lest any should say that I had baptized in mine own name.

16 And I baptized also the household of Stephanas: besides, I know not whether I baptized any other.

17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.

18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
Why did Christ not send Paul to baptize but to preach the gospel?

Is not baptism part of the gospel?

This is the one scripture that has always presented a problem for the "necessity" of baptism to be saved, in my opinion.

Thoughts?

There was a statement made that no man invoking the Name of Jesus has any power to effect the destiny of another man.

Without the faith of the individual being baptized no, no preacher pushing you into water and saying "Jesus" will save them. However, the casting of demons doesn't occur without someone with the Holy Ghost invoking the name of Jesus over a demonically possessed individual.

What name a baptizer invokes over the one being baptized can and does matter.

The Corinthians had already been baptized. Thus he was not sent to preach baptism to them. Yes the gospel includes baptism. Mk. 16:15-16

What words the baptizor invokes over the baptizee is completely meaningless. To equate that with someone casting out devils is comparing apples and oranges, they are two very different things.

Your sins aren't forgiven by the baptismal performance of another man, the bible doesn't suggest such a thing anywhere. No scripture, no teaching, nothing but a holdover from the Roman Catholic Church.
