Ha! It's tied. Add in the "unsure"s and we are still fairing at least 50-60% better than the other thread. An interesting relationship.

Only 25% are opposed to women preacher's in the other thread.
More than half of you on this thread oppose women pastors.
Inconsistency?

Re: Do You Believe in Women Pastors?
Maybe some are ok with them preaching but not being a pastor/elder.

My reasoning is that I see a pastor/elder/deacon as an actual "position" of authority, as opposed to a woman sharing the Word in a setting where her elders have given her permission to do so.
So a woman "preaching" the Word isn't the same as a woman being an overseer or being in charge of a local congregation.

Thanks, MB. I'm intrigued by how you state your case, share your perspectives on this. Something to think about.
Where I'm especially interested, is where we establish that women are excluded from "positions of authority" without interpreting the scriptures many have disagreed with RDP about, in the same way RDP does. Make sense?
It seems many are quick to be the "women's rights," "God will use anyone" gusto, but they change their tune when it comes to eldership, to which many feel women are excluded.

Yes, and I want to have more of those flesh out "why."
I'm especially curious to learn if they aren't using the same scriptures that they just attempted to debunk rdp's interpretation of, where even some concluded 1 Cor 14 and 1 Tim were "culturally limited" on the subject of women.

No doubt some of my views are skewed by my own biases and prejudices.
To interpret I Timothy 2:11-12 in a very black and white way would be a difficult application, because that would eliminate women not only from preaching or teaching in church, but also from testifying, prophesying, singing or maybe even praying/worshiping. That's both an impractical and improbable interpretation. The next way to interpret it is to assume that Paul clarified what he was talking about by "silence" when he said that he suffered not a woman to teach.
My understanding comes from the meaning of the word " authenteo" which is the Greek word for the phrase " usurp authority over." It means to " dominate" or " act as oneself", which to me means to act without permission, or of one's own accord. That would be distinctly different from a woman teaching or preaching with the permission and approval of her peers and elders.

Re: Do You Believe in Women Pastors?
I see women being involved in the first century church ,and alot of sisters are well versed in the word, and live a holy life.I just don't honestly women as Bishops and such in the word.

Yes, it is very inconsistent. It's kinda like, "I don't mind if a black man hits the winning home run for my team, but don't make him the President." We don't mind if the women perform, but don't put them in charge.
