There is no invitation in this verse you've highlighted but castigation for those who did not doing his will .. you're picking and choosing phrases now ...

You focus on the rear view mirror and I will simply focus on what I have to do bring glory to my Father. I will focus on the house on the rock while you focus on the house on the sand....

People will not appreciate the invitation to heaven without knowing that they will go to hell!

I Never Knew You
21 "Not everyone who says to Me, "Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22Many will say to Me in that day, "Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?' 23And then I will declare to them, "I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'

I dont really care for what they debate...when I think of Jesus speaking to crowds, I imagine him going up to the top of the hill so that they can see him better as he speaks...the high hills I see it serving as a podium....

I am speaking of two ways... my good friend ... this is how he presented it .... the way to eternal life ... and the way to perdition ...

16"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,[f] that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.

He is the WAY ... THE TRUTH ... AND THE LIFE

Not all of his messages were evangelistic ... even w/ crowds present ... this sermon is a teaching to his disciples ... few will quarrel w/ it's intent ... and even so he still reminds his disciples of the consequences ... of obedience and disobedience.

You can focus on whatever you want ... but Christ gave two scenarios ... those are the facts .. one house built on the rock and one on the sand ... and preached the consequences of BOTH.

If memory serves me correctly, and I could be wrong since I am over 40, it seems to me that Jesus mentioned hell more than He mentioned heaven
