Not everyone is smart. Period. I stick by my statement. There are stupid people in the world--and usually you can tell who they are, because "stupid is as stupid does."
I probably shouldn't have added the "in their own way" part, because I suppose it confused the issue. However, it's like someone saying that blind people can see "in their own way." Okay, if you put it like that, they can "see", as in PERCEIVE the world around them in ways other than through the sense of sight. But can they see? Literally? With their eyes? No. The politically correct mess would say that we need to say that even blind people can "see"--in their own way. I think that's patronizing and futile, and I object to it.

I knew that you had your thoughts and comments focused on the bold. So, I wasn't having a problem with your posts.
Anyway, we were kinda trying to lighten the mood. I guess the joke about you being bossy was only funny on the day we were both laughing. And it was funny that day, but not today.

Now, does that mean I'm going to let every smart-alecky remark you make pass without comment? Of course not.
What on earth makes you think I have an "elevated view of my intelligence over that of others?" I KNOW that I'm not the smartest cookie on this plate. Good Lord. I voted for Pel--not myself. I wouldn't put myself in the top 10 intelligent people on this forum, especially when you include knowledge and experience in the equation. Simply put, I'm too young to even qualify.
You have made yourself very clear as well--you go around with a chip on your shoulder, looking for things to be offended at. That tells me an abundance about you. This is just another one of those instances, and I don't parse my comments to accommodate the oversensitive.

The more you talk, the deeper you dig. Let's all be reminded of the bottom line....you think that some people are not "smart in their own way." You can't get away from that regardless of how much you type and defend. Sorry.
Monster?? No, that wasn't the word that goes in the blank!

I'm not going to sleep tonight if I don't know. Can I pay you for the information? The check is in the mail!
Ooops, I should have said that AFTER you told me the word!

Wait a second, she clarified her statement. Are we having a discussion or a trial?

Don't be so thin-skinned, maybe take a Valium before you come and post.
At least I think that is what was said.

I agree with your point that most everyone contributes something valuable to the forum.

I guess now it comes down to defining 'smart' in the context of this discussion.
Doing something stupid doesn't make you a stupid person, really stupid things are often done by people who are highly intelligent. Many criminals are highly intelligent criminals.
In the original post, the word 'smart' was used to mean highly articulate, well-read, educated on the subject matter. So, no, not everyone here is going to fit that description.
But I still believe that "everyone is smart in their own way". Because I don't define smart as "book smart". I define smart as - skilled, able to use your head to find a solution to a problem, etc.
