Aquilla
I live in an area that is full of old mansions and one of them is advertised as being the most haunted mansion in America. Each year at Halloween they have a seance where
a local group of witches gather to celebrate. I have never been there. There is
a movie out concerning it. I can't exactly remember the name but its about
St. Francisville, La.
I have told my husband many times that our ladies group needs to lunch there in the restaurant and have a big prayer meeting. It would rid the house of devils and cause
a lot of ruckus..lol.
Thanks for sharing the info. And I agree, a prayer meeting would rid the house of any spirits and I believe that it would be in order.

Please if you can give me a proof text or any instance where the early church
did this. I am open to Bible.

If I were to provide Bible, I'd have to provide the countless numbers of Scriptures admonishing that we pray for all men. The way I see it is like this; if they are a human spirit, we treat them no differently than how we'd treat the living. When the living are dying we pray that their soul be comforted and we hand them over to the hands of God. If it's a human spirit of one who has passed and they are lingering, I see it as though they are merely in the process of dying...because they've not passed on entirely. Again, pray for comfort and the aid of the Lord in their passing.
I think that we often sit on the sidelines of life without knowing the spiritual authority, role, and power of the church regarding deep spiritual issues merely because our "religion" doesn't know what to do or is too afraid to choose what to do. Why surrender the spiritual realm to safely practice religion? The practice of "religion" hinders spiritual growth, power, and knowledge. This is why most don't know the difference between an unclean spirit and a demon.
Mary, it’s my understanding that you’re taken aback at the notion that the dead can be troubled, afraid, nostalgic, homesick, shocked, disoriented, or confused...
Your understanding is very wrong, Aquila.
Trouvere, again, very good posts. Watch out about that prayer meeting though-that event might end up as a movie sequel!
If a spirit can be disturbed, angry, confused, frightened, or emotionally bound to something on this side for whatever reason... those are psychological frames of mind. And if they can be angry, homesick, disoriented, confused, etc.... they can be in a state of shock and disbelief regarding their death.
As for helping spirits cross over I cannot see Bible for that.

In addition to my previous post responding to this statement (post #61) I might add this Scripture....
Matthew 16:19
And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

Don't forget v 18!
"And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it."
We'll be counting on you guys to bust us outta there!

Timmy, we love ya, but if I make it to Heaven I ain't riskin' gettin' anywhere near THAT place... if I get too close someone might remember how close I was to going the wrong direction and change their mind about where I belong!
