Charlie Gibson is one of the most even-keeled journalists alive.
She won't get a friendlier interviewer than that.
I completely agree with that. I've personally been popping the popcorn waiting on Chris Matthews to get an interview with her. That would be fun to watch.
PP, on the task from God thing, I actually believed she'd said that too until I went to youtube and watched the entire excerpt of what she said. I think after you do that, you'll agree with her tone and with her saying, "that's what we have to pray for" translates back to it being a task from God.
I think it shows that she's not declaring it or stating it as a fact. Check out the clip in it's entirety and see if you change your mind.

Bro, I've watched it.
IMO, from being around church and knowing church speak, she totally believes the Iraq mission is "God's will."

Ok, fair enough. I didn't know you'd watched the full length clip of her remarks. I didn't take that from what she said. She may believe that down deep but I couldn't prove it from her remarks.
If she believes that the Iraq mission is God's will for certain, she has NO business being VP.
By the way PP, did you see the 2nd part of the interview on Nightline tonight? I missed it and was wondering what all topics we're covered.

I don't think that is what she meant. It seemed phrased more like, "Let's pray...that this is the will of God." "...pray...that...they (the troops) are on God's mission." (Not a quote...just my impression.)
I agree with PO--she did wobble on the global warming issue, but probably because it is obvious she differs with JM. (e.g., not because she is actually undecided.)
The entire interview was better than the clips they showed on the earlier newscast. Also, I didn't think the comment about her son was out of line, but was in context considering the question at hand. Certainly a far cry from "child abuse."

I watched it, too, and it didn't come across that way to me. She said, basically, "Let's pray...that...our national leaders are sending them out on a task that is from God." She said, "That's what we have to make sure we are praying for--that there is a plan, and that it is God's plan."
She did not make a statement, i.e., "This is a task from God"; she was saying, "Let's pray" this, this, this and this.

I agree; he is one of the nice[r] guys, and I wish she could've eased up a little.
Also, I cringed when she said, "Nuk-yul-er" like Bush. LOL!!!! I imagine that someone is going to splice video together of Bush and Palin back to back pronouncing the word the same way.

I haven't seen the interview yet. Had to study for a college test, but from the short clips of the interview I have seen...Charles Gibson is showing his liberal bias. His demeanor is obviously condescending and disdainful.
I think Palin has the "right stuff" for the VP job, and I trust that our nation would be in very capable hands if she were called upon to step into the role of Commander In Chief. Before McCain tapped her as his running mate, I was planning to hold my nose and vote for the old guy. I do trust that he has the country's best interest at heart.
I also trust that Palin will get her stride going after this. Too bad her first interview was with a biased left-wing-media-type. Charles Gibson comes off as a nice guy, but he is obviously a dyed-in-the-wool representative of the liberal media machine. I doubt he would have allowed his facial expressions (i.e. eye rolling, huffing, etc) to show if he were to interview Obama or Biden.
Obama's choice of Biden as his running mate shows that he lacks the courage to cut the party apron strings. It was so NOT a move toward CHANGE or HOPE or any of the other stuff he claims he's planning to do to make this a better country. Biden is an entrench representative of the good ole boys system that has bogged down our governing system for YEARS!
Palin offers a FRESH perspective and new blood and has actually ENACTED POSITIVE CHANGE in the offices she has held. I'm excited to hear more from her!

Palin: Global Warming Not Man-Made
August 29, 2008 8:21 PM
ABC News’ Rick Klein Reports: Among the issues Sen. John McCain will have to smooth over with his new running mate: global warming.
In an interview for the September issue of the conservative magazine Newsmax, Gov. Sarah Palin, R-Alaska, said she does not believe climate change is caused by human behavior.
“A changing environment will affect Alaska more than any other state, because of our location. I'm not one though who would attribute it to being man-made,” Palin said in the interview, which was posted online Friday. http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalra...global-wa.html
Quote:
Interview with Charlie Gibson:
GIBSON: Let me talk a little bit about environmental policy, because this interfaces with energy policy and you have some significant differences with John McCain. Do you still believe that global warming is not man-made?
PALIN:I believe that man's activities certainly can be contributing to the issue of global warming, climate change.
When I read over this again I see that they will hit her on wobbling, but she covered her bases by saying, "contributing". I don't know if that will save her or not.
I'm sorry, but unless she does better, I walked away more disappointed than pleased.
