Now, you know good and well that I did not imply to go witnessing in your birthday suit! That's just not right of you, brother!

FWIW, I wouldn't try to change how anyone in your church dresses anymore than someone who I would witness to who might have a spike in their chin. It is the Lord's job to change the person. I am not Him.

That was my understanding from reading your posts, which is partly the reason why I still don't get where anyone would think your post would imply you had a good service.

I am just as bothered by you about the same things on this thread and I have only sat on my couch today...lol

Well, I had been a rebellious child for a long time. I can say every service I have attended have been good. Praise the Lord.

I guess she thinks I got fired up from a good service. She inspires me a lot more than she knows, she is a great SIL.

pssssst, don't tell her I said that.

Well, ladies, it does put things in perspective when one learns that the two of you know each other personally and are even related... Without that, it just didn't make sense...

Re: Tulsa Tango????

I definitely believe that Holiness is an inside job first and foremost that should be reflected on the outside and that separation from the world in lifestyle is definitely a scriptural principle. What I don't really like is that many of us have fallen away from "being known by our love" to trying to be known by how we look. Often I'll go to the mall and say "There's an Apostolic Pentecostal" but it is not enough to only try to be known by how we look. Many of those people are the most unloving people I have known. Of course many are loving, wonderful people, but my problem is that the unloving ones feel justified in being known by how they look.

Just because I wear a wedding band or do not make my kids dress up in suits every service and I have a tv they know it and those are the subjects that get hit everytime I visit. I then have to deal with my feelings. I left that because of the way I saw things going. I did not want to be self righteous. I wanted to be right with God. I wanted to work out my own salvation with fear and trembling. Then when you get slapped in the face because you left them it makes it hard to not be like that. The thing is YOU HAVE TO. You have to overcome that feeling. I actually no longer to visit her church when I go to Ohio because I do not want to put my kids through that again. I speak to them and treat them friendly when I see them. When I find myself feeling proud that I am not like that anymore I have to start praying again. Not usually for myself but I pray for them. It helps me to remember that, there but for the grace of God go I. My prayers are not for them to become like me. My prayers are for God to bless them and help them to have compassion and understanding.

I am sure you know the answer to your question as we all do, NEITHER is right in those situations.

I must say I would have a rough time in that situation also Jax. How unloving.

lol I don't get "fired up" very often. But when I do I guess I go overboard even when it's the truth. I need God to work on that in me I guess. Learning to humble myself before God has been hard, but I am getting better at it.

I heard CC Winan say last night that she was having a conversation with her son about can you be a Christian and be in the movies. She asked him how close to the edge of the world do you think you can balance if you are suppose to be separate.

I definitely agree with you about seperation from the world in lifestyle. I just don't agree with those who may consider that to be what it is that truly distinguishes us or that it's all about what we wear. Of course, any child of God should dress modestly.

Now, about that looking different and showing love thing... I agree wholeheartedly. Before I met my husband I know nothing about apostolic people and had never heard of anything called apostolic. I did, in a charismatic church, receive a prophetic word for my son, who was about 4 or 5 at the time, saying he would be in apostolic ministry, though. I always wondered what that was.

What I did know about was the local UPC church...and it seemed to me that they were the most miserable, uppity people around. Here I was among the charismatics and had a lot of joy in my relationship with the Lord and these people could not even smile back at me in a restaurant. I DID NOT WANT what they had!!! I am sure that no one else did either.

Otherwise, I had no idea that there was a difference of doctrine whatsoever... I am glad that God brought me to it despite them.
