Believe me many nationals that hold your hat, carry your briefcase have dollar marks in their eyes...The American runs to the states and tells all his stories about the people....but does not even know that behind many acts of "goodwill" were thoughts of making money to survive...
Dooes that mean the nationals do everything for money? Of course not but it is a whole different ballgame when YOU LIVE on the field...

Thank you for your insight. It is an unselfish one. I see exactly what you are saying here.....but I am just a little people here! But you are right... it reminds me of the children who are playing and something goes wrong. So one takes their toys and goes home but they don't leave it at that. They go and tell all the other children in the neighborhood how mean they other child is and now no one wants to get along and everyone gets hurt in the end... Even those that weren't officially involved with the original fight because now both of their friends are fighting and they are caught in the middle....

Mother Alvear, I respect you very highly and the great work that you are doing and have done for the Kingdom. I feel that you have misunderstood something on this issue however, because no monies were/have been offered to anyone in the Philippines. Which means that if someone wanted to work with "us" they would be doing so only for fellowship, training, and such. Not for Money.

Re: Branson Meeting
Maybe I do not always know how to express my self. I have been on the mission field so long...I am not saying you offered them any money. I am saying the foreigner represents money to the national and I KNOW they talk about that among themselves...
I will be back....office work to do...

No Problem, I agree the "American" has done great harm on foreign soil by offering money to the nationals. It has been one of the greatest hinderances to pure missions works such as you and your husband, and many others. Fortunately for me, I had some wonderful missions advisors that warned me against this when I first started missions work some 10+ years ago. What I have witnessed in India, the Philippines, and a few other places is almost a bidding war pledging allegiance to whoever will pay the highest. IMHO this prostitutes the Gospel and does much harm.

Re: Branson Meeting
To the foreigner they reason like this...we (UPC) baptize in Jesus Name they (whatever) baptize in Jesus Name...so in reality we are the same belief...we want to get our country evangelized...so why not go where the money is...
My brother they will never tell you that...but that is truth...
I know the Philippino train of thought...we worked there...they are precious people however they are very poor...
I realize there are those that left the UPC that have friends there BUT I personally do not think it is right to run anywhere and start an organization...
I saw it happen in Brazil...many years ago...
Why poison the national because of America´s disagreements?
I have stated I AM not against the new fellowship in fact I am for it but I am not far anyone whatever they are causing trouble among the brethern.
My son will be in the meeting there in Bransom, Brother Ryan that works with us will be there...we (I) am not against anyone...In fact I think if chosing between several groups I would chose the Bransom group...
So it is not saying I am against WWF for I am not...but I know who suffers in the foreign countries because of Big Brothers disagreements...the little ones....

Re: Branson Meeting
I personally KNOW missionaries that pay salaries to their preachers and the preachers have no real convictions...it is a job to them not a divine calling...when the dollars cease so does the work...
I personally helped a couple that came to me and asked for holiness clothes to go attend a seminar another missionary requires his workers to go to so they could come back and work in that work as "paid workers"...and they laughed about it...
They are friends of mine...they laughed and said how they would have to dress, get rid of their tv...it was no conviction...just a job...
I don´t believe in things like that...
I am NOT saying you or anyone else that writes on this board does things like that BUT it does happen...
If we are not careful instead of the devil our brother becomes our worst enemy and nightmare...
