It's only inconsistant if those that took the evangelist to task are objecting to someone else being taken to task and even then the circumstances are not really the same either

- That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
- That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.

We are in a context in which we should be more in the "abound" that Paul presented. There is a challenge and discipline required in abundance as much as in the "abased" context. A common misunderstanding of Christians is to look at everything thru a biblical cultural context and miss what God is doing in our current context.
We are called to work out our Christian lives in the context in which we live, not tailoring our lives by the cultural and historical context of the Apostles.

Boy, how simple it can be to 'make up' a doctrine out of whole cloth. And, such a task is very easy when we set the scripture aside when it 'doesn't fit our culture'. Unbelievable. Simply unbelievable.

Same here. And, I have been a witness of such a difference in something along the lines of a camp meeting, or a big meeting like Landmark, etc.

BOOMM, I'm trying to be good. You have one minister that started a thread in a public forum where he criticized and condemned another minister; not just that, but accused him with no proof.
It should have been stopped there, but it wasn't, and he went further.
Then he criticized other elders for not speaking out against this minister, insinuating they're cowards and too politically correct to do so. All the while, he admits to rubbing shoulders with the minister he's attacking behind his back and doesn't take 5 minutes to do what he's criticized others for not doing.
How can I be singled out for a personal attack with this quote and this minister's personal attack be ignored?
The quote you have from me isn't a personal attack. Matt asked if I was truly calling BS a coward. I didn't use that word. I never called him a coward. I only related excerpts of BS' own words and challenged him on them. If that's a personal attack, I guess I'm guilty as charged. But I don't believe it is.

I sincerely appreciate you allowing the discussion to continue. I hope the author of this thread was one of the 4. I imagine I was probably one of them also . . .

That's true. I wouldn't doubt it a bit. He's probably heard this kind of junk jealous criticism enough that it doesn't faze him. Still doesn't make it right.

I disagree with your assessment. BS also leveled some baseless accusations against another minister. Accusations that haven't yet been proven, and probably never will be. If it was as simple as what you've written it to be, I wouldn't have a problem with it . . . and I doubt the others would either.
Everyone has a right to express their feelings or opinions. He went beyond that.

With all this discussion, I would dare to say this, Let Bro. Strange and whoever this MB is (I have no idea off hand who it is, especially as I am not UPC but ALJC now), let them meet and discuss it among themselves.
Otherwise, the call was sounded from both angles, now let time and God be the judge as to who was right...

Bro. Matt
You are probably right.
As far as the AS, I have always said I have no problem with it and IF I was UPC would sign it in a heart beat.
Bro. Strange is the one that thinks it "damnable".

Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge.
If [any thing] be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace.
For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted.
And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.
IMO, the instruction in 1Co 14: 29-32 (above) is a non-concept in our gatherings (the exception proves the general statement). Since 1C0 14 is loaded with instruction on how life should be conducted during those times when “… the whole church be come together into one place…”, our La District camp meeting seems to be a location where it has application.
Also IMO, this thread was a form of this happening with a system that does not have any structural tradition or expectation for it to happen.
If we have folks just declaring what they “feel” is needed we should also have ‘double’ the amount of folks judging the utterance of the prophet.
Hey, I know I am a crazy dreamer and besides, “wouldn’t those persons be JUDGING and we know the earth will open up if the anointed get TOUCHED! GAAAASSSSSPPP, Korah, you and your family go back to the pit!
Even worse than these typical rhetorical countermeasures being released, this same thread even considered a need for “civil legal involvement”. Wowsy, wow, wow, the only thing more extrabiblical then that approach would be to evoke RULE over one another in some new denominal heirarchy.
Our zeal for prophesy is wonderful. Our zeal for prophets is vile.
Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual [gifts], seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church
