I think it has a lot to do with the point, because the non-Christians who attended probably didn't have a problem with homosexuality.
So, the discussion is - Christians, who believe that it's a sin - should they attend?
The non-Christians weren't showing unconditional love if they didn't have a problem with it in the first place.

I can know that I wouldn't approve of homosexuality if I wasn't a Christian because many of my arguments against it have nothing to do with 'Because God said so'.
