Re: Who was Harry Morse ?

Nancy and Otis Petty were students of Harry Morse around 1940.

Still on the hunt for more data. Looks like they were missionaries to Africa and then pastored in Oakland after John Klemin in 1965.

They have a daughter. Hoopefully, I will be able to contact her to see if there is a paper trail from their Oakland days.

Yes, I am very excited.

Re: Who was Harry Morse ?

Today, a book of poetry by Lillie Buffum came in the mail. It is dated 1959. Lilies from the valley, a Bible Bouquet. 70 pages of poetry.

The other book is a directory of churches and religious organizations in Idaho. It is dated 1940. It includes both PCI and PA of JC churches. More importantly, it lists all the ministers and lay ministers in the entire state.

I was hoping to find data in it about a Bible school that was in operation for a few years in Idaho. It may have come after 1940. Probably 1941-1945 or something like that. It did send students to Oakland.

But, I will search the directory for useful data and simply enjoy the Buffum poetry. I wrote Buffums bio and will include it in with Harry Morse. They were in the same social circle. When Buffums music books come up for auction, I pick them up.

Not sure who will end up with the overflowing self published Oneness biographies and the other books that are the byproduct of writing a book. One other book is a history of the Pentecostal movement in Canada.

Hazelwood might want them. The AOG archive will have a say in the pictures. Or they could go to Joplin. Not sure.

Better finish the book before I give away the data

Re: Who was Harry Morse ?

Different guy. There were a handful of people who lived around the same time period who were named Harry Morse.

Not that such details would be confusing in any way

Re: Who was Harry Morse ?

Harry was probably the first Oneness radio preacher. He was on the air for 30 years. He was at both Azusa Street in 1906 and was at the Arroyo Seco Campmeeting when the "revelation" came out.

His Bible training program began in 1915 or 1916, rather early for Oneness Bible school education efforts.

His location near San Francisco meant many missionaries would stop at his home. He did not run a hotel, but he did offer hospitality to traveling missionaries.

Yes, I need to finish that book.
