I thought it was a very classy letter composed by a very sincere man. The 'P.S.' was, in my opinion, meant to put a '.' (period) on the rumors that would be associated with a man with that kind of longevity in the organization backing away from it. That would be why he listed his various involvements with the UPC... to let them know that this was not a 'fly by night' decision but a hard one that would affect his world as he knew it.
It's been my observation that letters of this sort are not meant to be an 'in your face' attempt but a 'let there be no confusion about why' type of correspondence.
Good letter. Good man. Unfortunate conclusion to a life well invested in the UPC.
The letter was sent out to ALL licensed preachers in CA.
not just pastors. I talked to one pastor who was upset about this- i don't know why he would be but nevertheless.....
Thad, the letter was VM all the way, classy and heartfelt. He is always a gentleman. The reason that it might upset a pastor that he had sent this to all licensed preachers in CA is because the ones who aren't pastors are more than likely someone elses saint. So that would be communication with another mans saint, which some would frown on. IMO
The letter is honest and straightforward ... I still don't understand this insistence however of letting your dues run out .... why not just resign?
It is my understanding that if you just allow your dues to run out there is less likely a chance that you would be dropped under question........you would be dropped simply for allowing your dues to run out........
