I have been much healthier since I have gone kosher. Blood pressure down, except when Dan Dan is chasing me with dcon, lost weight, more energy, etc. I say there was more to the dietary laws than meets the eyes. God knows what man does not. Even the medical profession is getting into the act concerning certain items, like pork(nitrates, nitrites, etc). Again I don't find it a weight at all. At first I missed bacon but now with my new found healthier way, I am enjoying life more.

It may be other reasons, such as less sodium. But beef products and other sandwich meats all have nitrites in them.

I don't doubt it.

I'm moving that way myself...

I've found that I enjoy Beef Bacon ALMOST as much pork bacon. Not quite the same, but close enough. Aside from bacon, and the occasional dish with Italian Sausage in it, pork is nearly out of my diet completely.

Like I said, the info I've been reading on it isn't coming out to be too good. Certain chemicals in pork, even the 'cleanest', leanest, 'healthiest' pork, cause heart disease.

Klingy, if you want to go healthy on the beef side, go with Grass fed beef. Rich in Omega 3 fatty acids, leaner, better for you.

Grain fed beef is is higher in Omega 6 fatty acids which is bad bad bad... not to mention, it's not usually all that 'humane' in the way the animals are packed together in a pen, eating each other's 'stuff' mixed in with the grain in the feed lots.

I prefer beef bacon, but it costs more and is hard to find around here
