I mean, if the kids are grown, what can you do? Sometimes things just are what they are.

A - you missed my point. It was not about a brother in Christ (not just a pastor) talking to someone about their children's lifestyle choices.
It was about how WE treat out children's lifestyle choices.
And are we doing the best we can to bring them back to Christ.
I have seen parents to are being loving, supportive and affirming of their child's ungodly choices.
When they were approached and asked to prayerfully consider the best way, they become offended.
We need other people to challenge us in our walk with God, as we can quickly go down a side road.

Paul would differ with your opinion.

I have a cousin who is on her 4th child out of wedlock.
She was raised in church.
I love her children (and her).
Whenever I see her, we talk, she cries and tells me that she needs to get back to church.

JB - so let's see. Since in your opinion, obesity is not preached against enough, we should just stop preaching against every other sin, as well.
The world is affecting you.

Back in the day, it was a shame and a disgrace to have a child out of wedlock. And, mysteriously, there wasn't an epidemic of children being born out of wedlock.
Today, there's no shame attached to having a child out of wedlock. And mysteriously, there's an epidemic of children being born out of wedlock.
What's even more mysterious is how many folks can't figure out the "mystery".

Re: What Would You Do?
God takes marriage very seriously.
And children born out of wedlock were not treated the same as those who were, by him.

In whatever we feel led to do to address sin, if we are loving, patient, kind, and merciful in doing it... we can't go wrong.

Would she be an outcast? Or welcomed unconditionally with love and acceptance?

Re: What Would You Do?
Back in the day it was a shame and a disgrace to be publicly proud of being a fornicator, whether straight or "gay". And mysteriously, there wasn't an epidemic of such blatant immorality.
Nowadays, there's no shame in it. "Can't make people feel uncomfortable, or that their behavior is unacceptable." Mysteriously, there's an epidemic of both straight and gay fornicators being all open and public about it.
Back in the day, it was a disgrace for a man to wear a dress and call himself Patricia instead of Patrick. Nobody tolerated that nonsense.
But nowadays...

Preaching against sin is preaching against sin. And it must be done. But I think this is more with how we deal with sinners in the course of our lives.
