Isn't the argument about where to draw that line? I don't know many who advocate confiscation of all firearms, which seems to be what a lot of gun nuts think. Or want to think.
As for arming teachers, it would only be a matter of time before someone is injured in an accidental shooting. Training will reduce the risk, but even trained police officers have accidents. It will happen.

When you set up a National Registry, confiscation is easy to set in place. There is certainly nothing "nutty", in my book, about taking precaution that it does not happen.
I agree that training does reduce risks, but doesn't always prevent accidents. I believe any person purchasing a gun should be required to have gun training. We do that when we are getting a driver's license.

Re: I've lost respect for Sandy Hook parents
With all the discussion going on it is well to be reminded that possession of arms is the backbone of our ability to keep our God-given liberty. No political action on the part of the people has any chance of success save for the ultimate, and hopefully unnecessary recourse to arms. That requires parity with the force which the governments can bring to bear against us.

Law abiding gun owners' rights: Opposing view
Background-check amendment is too vague for law abiding citizens to understand and too easy for criminals to avoid.

Re: I've lost respect for Sandy Hook parents
The question that is avoided is how any of the measures put forth would have prevented Sandy Hook.
The truth is nothing could have prevented it, sadly. Nothing unless we begin to look at the drugs many of the same individuals are on. Why are the politicians ignoring the common denominator? Is it because of the pharmaceutical companies and their monies flowing into the coffers of the elected officials? Surely not. That would imply corruption in Washington D.C.

I understand your point but...
1) A "driver's license" is not a second amendment right.
2) I am leery of govt. controlled "training". The govt. is corrupt and they could easily make the training so difficult no one could pass it; thus, circumventing the second amendment.

I could agree with that. I wish that anyone purchasing a gun, would voluntarily take a gun handling class. But, when you apply for a Conceal Carry, you do have to take a class. And I highly agree with that. Something that the Republicans Senators were bringing to the floor today.

But these parents dishonoring the memory of their slain children is NOT disturbing? Really? Is it just as disturbing to you that the lone parent who is speaking out against Obama's gun laws does not get the invite to ride around on Air Force One on the tax payer dime, and gets to go lobby Senators to support his views? How brainwashed has even the Christian community become.
Now if I had said that I had no sympathy for these parents, then you'd have a point. But I said nothing of the kind.

I'm willing to have you angry at me if my comments hopefully get you to think and realize that you also are being manipulated. THIS is why obama paraded these grieving parents in front of the public. he knew that anyone like me who cried out against this hypocrisy would be lambasted as being "insensative".
