Just like everyone has to pay income taxes. But in all actuality only about 40% pay income tax, the other 60% get theirs back and more.

That is essentially what will happen with a National Health Care System. The Rich will have to fork out the money for those that do not have their priorities straight all while not really addressing the real issue: Health Care Costs.

If you close the tax loop holes for the rich, close them for the poor also.

Re: Are these folk Christian

I think we need to consider "tax burden". A person making 10 million dollars a year can survive quite well with taxes as high as 30%. But a woman working at the local diner wouldn't be able to buy milk and eggs for her family if you taxed her 30%. So cost of living has to be considered.

While I know it would be outrageous, the man making $10 million a year could afford 50% tax on his income, leaving him $5 million... and he'd not fear being unable to buy milk and eggs for his family. In fact, he'd probably still have three homes, a yaht or two, and vacation homes in at least two other locations.

When I consider "tax burden", I'm not too worried about the rich being taxed at a higher percentage than the working poor. While the tax percentage may be higher for the rich... the tax burden is still NOWHERE near where it is for the middle class and the working poor. In our country, the majority of "tax burden" is on the middle class and working poor.

Re: Are these folk Christian

How about this?

In the year 2011, a 33 year old man in good health chooses to opt out of health insurance because he can barely afford to pay bills and have health insurance. Then something terrible happens to his neighbor and he needs 6 months to a year of intensive care. Does the 33 year old man just let him die? If not, who pays for it?

I'm curious to know what you consider middle class?
51% of Americans do not pay any income taxes.

Here is a good article on what 50% tax rates did to the UK.

Receive more then what they pay in. That is the issue. But that does not a lot of social reform.

1) Truly reform Welfare. They need to put in a 40 hour work week. 2 Hours a day in class, 2 hours in application processing, and 4 hours in community service a day. 5 days a week. - 2 Thess 3:10 "If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat."
2) Unemployment should be done the same way as Welfare.
3) 10% tax should be taken from everyone. Government should live on a fiscal system of "spend what they made last year" and only be able to finance for 2 things. Disasters and War.
4) Businesses should not be taxed, as it is a double taxation on people. (IE income in a collective manner, and on a personal manner.) A set percentage (50%) of the business profit must be payed out in dividends and be filled under the 10% income tax.
5) No Death/Inheritance Tax, so that wealth my be freely passed on to our children. The Government should not get 50% of what you have when you die.

Many more things can be said.

I'd have to study a bit on #4... but the rest of your points would certainly be a good start.

Re: Are these folk Christian

while I was unemployed for 27 months I am happy to say, I went back to school and volunteered at a cat rescue 5 days a week for 10 months. I was bored so I volunteered.

I do not believe in welfare, Roosevelt put people to work to build roads, dams, and so much more. Instead of welfare why not hire them to work for the state?????
Oh, I support a straight tax, no refunds.
I approve this message, Do you?????
