I don't see any scriptural support for tongues being so much more widespread than every other spiritual gift. Isn't it interesting that so many people seem to have the faith for one spiritual gift but hardly no one has the faith for any other spiritual gift?
Yep, exactly, and the truth is, Tongues occur 5 times in the entire bible. There are nine people raised from the dead in the bible. How come we don't head to all the funerals and raise the dead?
We do not tempt God by going to drink deadly things. However, if we drink deadly things, his word says it will not harm us.
It's similar to "He will give his angels charge over you to bear you in all your ways lest you dash your foot against a stone."
The devil tried to use that scripture to have Jesus jump from the mountain, but Jesus replied "Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God."
So, although, God has promised to protect us if we drink deadly things, that doesn't mean we should go ahead tempting God by intentionally drinking deadly things. The same thing applies to picking up serpents...
Is it tempting God to speak in tongues, or to try to cast out demons, or to lay hands on the sick and find out if they recover? And the serpent sign says they shall take up serpents! That doesn't sound accidental.

Heck yeah. That's why Benny Hinn and all the Benny-wannabes, spend all their time healing bad backs, headaches, bad knees, and chest pain, and ignoring the poor paraplegic in the wheelchair.

To qualify my last statement... tongues actually a bit more common in the new testament than any other supernatural sign. 120 spoke in tongues on the day of Pentecost or was it 12? Or maybe the bible doesn't specify the exact number. Either way it seems there are alot more people in the new testament that spoke in tongues than there is of any other supernatural gift.

1 Cor 12:28
And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.

But those who God has used to heal wheel chair cases are regarded as cult members...
Oh, I actually know a wheel case chair that was healed in America very recently. Of course, those churches do not happen to be on TV. I can post the website if wanted.

I am a firm believer in the Old Paths
Articles on such subjects as "The New Birth," will be accepted, whether they teach that the new birth takes place before baptism in water and Spirit, or that the new birth consists of baptism of water and Spirit. - THE PENTECOSTAL HERALD Dec. 1945
"It is doubtful if any Trinitarian Pentecostals have ever professed to believe in three gods, and Oneness Pentecostals should not claim that they do." - Daniel Segraves
