definatly a point for Perry and part of that 5% of me that is still holding him in regard.

Okay, the debate is coming up in 10 minutes. We'll see how it goes. Love Perry, but I'm expecting him to act like a child a little bit. LOL!
I read this last week when you posted but didnt have time to reply.

Nor did I have a good answer. I still dont.

If Medena thinks we need to be on a gold standard then i am likely to move away from her, although I dont know that I think that is a deal breaker for a governor as the gov. doesnt have control over that.

I am taking a long hard look at her approach to taxation. She is for abolishing property tax and instituting a cosumption tax. This is an intreging idea. I believe she has said that number should be around 14%.

interesting. Not sure I like that better than what we have now. But I am open.

Kay is still OUT! and I am getting kind of peeved that every major republican in the state is supporting her. I say Nolan Ryan comercials this weekend.

What gives? why are the Top Rs so behind her and so mad at Perry?

I agree. I am open to that, but not sure it could work better. Therefore, it appears to be talking points to me for Medina. I'd be taking a chance of throwing my vote to Hutchinson if I voted for Medina, so I'm watching that.

Yes, Kay it out. I saw Nolan's ad called, "Fences". I see why he is supporting Kay. It's over the TTC and the Property Tax Bill of Rights. He is still pretty upset that Perry supported the TTC in the beginning. It wasn't the best idea, but as some have said, our highways are congested and we need a solution. So, it's scraped, because the people were up in arms. That's okay and how it works. Some farmers and ranchers, around here, were threatening to kill anyone that dared to step on their property.

Well, we see why Nolan is supporting her and the others would probably be cronyism.

Did you KNOW that Clayton Williams is supporting Perry?!!!

honestly I am still baffeled that Kay Baily hates Perry so much. I am still baffeled that this is happening at all.

I have yet to find the actual answer as to how it all came about.

I just chalk that up to the "face" of a political campaign. I doubt she hates Gov. Perry. She has to come out strong against him to put as much doubt in the viewers mind that she is capable of. He has pretty healthy ratings favorability.

PO there is a back story here. You never see two establisment types battle like this in the party.

what reason does Kay have to leave the senate? its mind boggleing.

All that I have run across is that she thinks he's been in office too long. She dropped a challenge against him four years ago. That's not looking good for her. Is it a fight over whose ancestors are the most important? (LOL) Perry's great-grandfather served in the Texas House in 1892, while Hutchison's great-great-grandfather was among the 54 men who signed the Texas Declaration of Independence in 1836.

She said she was going to leave her Senate seat by the end of last year and never did do that. Then she said she would stay where she was until Obama's healthcare was settled. That's why Perry asked her, in the first debate, when she was going to actually resign her Senate seat. The battle between them can only turn off the Independent voters. Medina might end up doing really well. LOL!

I understand that there has never been a US Senator who has gone home to take on his or her own party's governor in a primary election. Perry is a sitting Governor with no besetting scandal. So, really, I can't get a handle on her motivation. She just needs to retire all together.

And a very careless remark on her part, IMO - “With the number of people who are have already announced they’re leaving the Senate,” Hutchison said, “I think that one spot is not going to make a difference. It’s not the 60th seat anymore.”

Ferd I have wondered that also. When you consider the need right now to have a strong repulican congress and for her to step down at this time is very questionable to me.
