I like what someone else said, religion in the form of the church has persecuted renewal movements most of the time, I am sorry for my ambiguity but lately its about the only thing that gets people to respond.
As long as you recognize tha ambiguity then we are okay.

I will agree that "religion" has indeed persecuted fresh moves of God. That probably will not end until eternity begins.

But I think we all know that on a Forum like this, discussing this type of topic, terms are incredibly important. How we define the terms you used is paramount to agreement. If we cannot agree on the terms then we most definitely will not find cohesiveness on cause and effects.

But it is helpful to realize that these persecuting forces has always claimed the authority of the church and orthodoxy and with the mindset of protecting the flock.

I have sufficient reading comprehension to ascertain that Peter was out of whack in that particular instance.

What you seem to be missing is the part about the difference between an individual (Peter), one person...unos...singular, resisting something, and the entire church, broad brush, pandemic, resisting or persecuting a move of God.

I have a grand piano that I want to sell because it is getting old enough that it won't hold tune properly.

I plan to sell it and free up the space on the platform by replacing it with a keyboard.

I have a lady who doesn't like the idea.

That does not give me leave to start a thread saying "The Church has always persecuted those who want to sell grand pianos."

Are you getting the picture now?
Bad attitude.

An airplane with bad attitude is hard to keep flying and may very well fall from the sky.

Thanks for letting us know that you have a bad attitude. The first step in fixing it is admitting it. We shall hope you find your "attitude adjustor" and fly level.

My point in this thread, as I looked over the course of church history, most if not all of what were genuine renewal movements were intially fought from within the institutional church. From the Judaizers down to the Wesley Methodists the first opposition was from within. We will be moving forward into an unprecendented manifestation of God, I pray we don't miss this time of visitation.
