Something I do have a problem understanding though is the "Holy Laughter."

I've never personally experienced it and EVERYTIME I've ever seen it, I've been very uncomfortable with it.

When my cousin was about 13-14 yrs old, she went thru some kinda something, tongue talking wiped out in the pew, and after she awoke out of this (?), she only laughed instead of communicate, for a long time. I remember it well, 25 years ago. She was walked outside the church building(after service) sat down on a bench. I sat beside her (I was about 10-12), and I tried to talk to her, but she could only laugh. It was strange. I kept asking her questions like "what's your name", "who am I", where do u go to school"? She would make some eye contact, but could not answer, only laugh. Never seen it happen since. She was not slipped a drug. It was not a bluff. Her mom said she was wacked out like that till she awoke the next morning. I'm not into the Pentecostal shockamoo, I think it's mostly rediculous, however that deal was real and I won't ignore or forget it.

When I clicked the link, I read a few stories and thought, "This reads like a 'Christian' version of the Onion."

I've been around those who "shockamoo" and have done it myself.

Most of the time, the presence of the Lord can be very real, and personal, and glorious. However, I know that many times the "shockamoo" came about just because everyone else was doing it, and there wasn't any true spirit or presence of God involved, it was just movement to a beat or a tune.

But, the spirit is subject to the prophet, and if the spirit of the Lord is moving on you, it won't manipulate you in such a way that you can't be responsible for your actions.

I do believe there are other spirits out there that mimic the true spirit of the Lord. For whenever there is a genuine, there is also the counterfeit.

I believe that these spirits are from Satan himself, who masquerades himself and comes in the form of a counterfeit spirit that controls, and dominates, and leaves one feeling dead and empty inside. I have heard this kind of spirit called "kundalini".

I personally have never seen this kind of thing in action, but my husband believes he has. He says that he literally has been in churches where people are supposed to be filled with the Holy Ghost, who would find themselves knocked over and acting like fools, and inside feel absolutely nothing. I am not kidding about this kind of stuff. It is scary and sad all at the same time!

So, I would be very careful judging those who are caught up in a "shockamoo" experience. It can be very hard to tell counterfeit from the genuine. Yet, each tree produces fruit of its kind. If a tree is producing good fruit, then we know what kind of tree it is.

So, instead of judging someone based on their outer "shockamoo" experience and actions, we would be far wiser to judge the character of the fruit of the spirit in their lives.... which is the advice given to us by our Lord Jesus.
