It took me a while to find, but I found the post I wrote way back when just before leaving that other list.
Quote:
As we all know, Paul had what could be called a "Road to Damascus
Experience". He was totally a Pharisee even consenting to Stephen's
death and was very zealous toward God. However, one day he had an
experience with God, did a 180 turn and he was a different man.
In my writings and walk with God, one thing I have attempted to be is
honest. I feel that Oneness Apostolics in general have a tendency to
be less than honest, pushing aside their own feelings and perceptions
for fear that what they might think or feel could be "wrong". I have
been guilty of this as well, howbeit unknowingly and I think most
people do it unknowingly. I don't feel that we have a need to be
right as mich as we have a need to be honest because if we are just
wanting to be "right" (as were the Pharisees)without the honesty of
ever admitting we were wrong, we end up as the Pharisees.
I have sometimes been self-righteous. I feel like the Lord has shown
me something and I have been humbled and changed. If I have hurt
anyone on this list in my quest to be honest and forthright with my
feelings, I apologize.
Here is the truth. I no longer care whether you wear a wedding ring,
have video, have a Christmas tree, go roller skating etc., etc.
These things that were so important to me a few weeks ago have faded
into the world of never, never land. I am changed. Here I have spent
so much energy on these unnecessary things and judged people when I
should be loving people and showing sinners the way. (I haven't done
a huge pendulum swing where I don't care about true holiness so don't
misunderstand me. I care whether someone watches nasty movies on the
video but *whether someone HAS video or not*, I don't care about THAT
anymore.) The gospel is such a wonderful message! How I love to see
people born of the water and of the Spirit and walk in newness of
life! At this point in time (and revelations can be dangerous so I am
working closely with my husband who is also my pastor on this) I am
realizing that "All things are lawful to me but not all things are
expedient". (Emphasis in a different place than it was previously.)
And as the apostles laid no more than "these few necessary things"
upon the gentiles, I am following no more than "these few necessary
things" that would be laid upon me by my husband. He is my pastor and
I will follow him.
I knew I also didn't care about wearing skirts or cutting hair, but I felt it was too much for the list to take in at the time. No one would have understood my 180 turn. I do still care about true holiness....but it is defined differently than UPC defines holiness.

Haven't changed my beliefs from when I started. Have had lots of questions answered, found others that believed like I do on many issues. That is the interesting thing, I agree with the UC on some issues and libs on others.
My main concern is to stay balanced in what the Word says and not the traditions of any group of people.
