Thad, if all musicians understood the
ministry of the song, there would be less 'junk' in the music department...
IMHO.
I Chronicles 25:1-3 states that the musicians
prophesied with their instruments...the word here means
to reveal the will of God by divine inspiration. That understanding makes playing and singing more than just a 'filler' between start of service and the preached Word.
There are some who will not sit still for preaching...the enemy will see to it that the baby cries and they must go out, or they are distracted some other way. But because he is banking on y'all not understanding what it is that y'all do and why, he'll let folks sit for a song.
And
that's why every song has to be right on, even at offering time. It's not about playing a song for people to march to...it's about
ministering with the song.
