Re: Who was Harry Morse ?
In am effort to find more early data, I am surveying the history of the Apostolic Faith Mission in Hawaii. The first article I have about Harry Morse in Oakland was from 1920 where a connection is made between Hawaii and Morse in Oakland.
One interesting person is Charles and Mrs. Lochbaum. They are from California. They went to Honolulu in 1923 to start the Apostolic Faith Church. They are independent. She preaches. He is the pastor.
Other than A.O. Moore, there are no other speakers at the church. But they seem to be Oneness.
So far, I have not been able to connect Oscar Vouga, Morse graduate, with this Lochbaum guy. Vouga attended a different church in Honolulu, the Christian Church.
The Honolulu Apostolic Faith Mission started in 1906 does not seem to be a going concern when Lochbaum arrived in 1923.

Re: Who was Harry Morse ?
In 1925, the church had membership of around 600. This would make it as large as any Oneness church in California at that time.
The church, and branches, still exist. It is very interesting, from a cultural anthropological perspective, to study a Oneness church from 1923 that remained, in a sense, isolated from the rest of Oneness Pentecostalism.
How are they the same and how are they different ? How did they interact with other Oneness churches on the mainland ?
I have not researched other Oneness churches in Hawaii during the same time period. The Portland based Apostolic Faith Mission had a branch there in 1945. Oscar Vouga was there in 1930-1932. There is also a mention of a Full Gospel Apostolic Faith Church in 1932. But it is only mentioned once.
Still working on it all...

Re: Who was Harry Morse ?
I have not tried to contact anyone just yet. The Apostolic Faith Church had a printing press and produced literature. I hope I can find some of what they produced.

Re: Who was Harry Morse ?
I just found an article by Harry Morse about the tabernacle. Since the format will not permit me to copy it, I will end up typing it up old school. Since it is from 1914, and it is a topic I did not have material on, I am excited.
Putting together the beginnings of Pentecostalism in Hawaii is more work than I thought, but it is moving forward. Hopefully, I will find new data about Harry Morse in the process. But no promises.

Re: Who was Harry Morse ?
Quote from a doctoral dissertation;
The early Pentecostal pioneers (1906-1936) in northern California represented polyglot and cosmopolitan cohorts of preachers. These pioneering preachers often emerged from a Wesleyan ministerial background and concertedly supported missions globally and/or trained women and men to launch new missions to California’s many language groups. These earlier preachers preceded the Okies and largely hailed from the Upper Midwest and abroad. Notably, they did not bear the outsider stigma that Okies bore and were praised for their global visionary missions.

Re: Who was Harry Morse ?
In July of 1924, Herbert Huffman preached at the Big Downtown Mission in Oakland. Oscar Vouga wrote about him.
Who is Herbert Huffman ???
By the way, he preached on "hellfire and brimstone".

Yes it did. Elder Kidson was the editor. I am thinking it was called the Herald. It was published from Louisana, Mo. then from Houston.
