That sounds good. The venison sausage I have liked the best was a 50% beef to 50% venison mix. It effectively removed nearly all of the "gaminess" that I associate with deer meat and added some much needed fat since deer is so lean (although not as lean as other animals like elk).

Re: Hunting Season
Duck season is open in Wisconsin. We have ducks in the trout stream that meanders through our backyard.
Having trouble geting out of bed this morning ended up placing me at the blind a little late this morning.
I spruced up my blind a few days ago. The first ducks that came in stared right at it. Not exactly the behavior I was looking for. So today, I relocated downstream in the hope of outsmarting the wood ducks.
20 minutes after getting into place, a pair of wood ducks came in. One shot later, and I had my first double.
I think I will relocate to a public hunting spot for ducks. This will let my blind at our place cool off.
Straight shooting !!

My son and his grandpa went out this past weekend in the Necedah refuge and got a few. It was a wet, cold couple of days! There is a lot of water and therefore a lot of ducks, but those Woodies are smart!

Re: Hunting Season
I knew Mel Blanc. He was a customer at a place where I worked. He was a really nice guy. I never asked him to do his cartoon voices. Not the sort of thing a person asks when on the job.
He drove a nice, but not fancy car.

I have a question for you --- what do you do with the ducks you shoot? Is it just a sport, or do you eat them?

Re: Hunting Season
My son got his first turkey (hen) a week or so ago. It was a lot of work to go to for a little bit of meat.

We enjoy having a duck dinner with the trimmings. I don't think I've ever had a wild turkey though. Our son likes to hunt geese, however he only uses the breastmeat for jerky, which seems kind of wasteful, but then, there seems to be so many geese around.

We are going to try the wild turkey out in a week or so. I froze the meat and will cook it when all our family is able to be together.
