We are in danger of hi-jacking this thread. I'll shut up about LB now.
I agree with Dan, Benny seems to be demonically influenced.

Sad to say, I've seen them convulse and breathe their last spiritually in the sports arena. No, it doesn't happen all the time. And there isn't often a Godly coach. Sure there may have been other factors that contributed to the demise spiritually, but it happens.

MOW, for every success story there are also failures. I can tell some of kids who went into sports and indeed it did affect their spirituality in annegative way.

WE advertise that horrible book! What if a new convert gets a hold of it?
It is what it is. He never states it means "spiritually". The dreams were based on physical events.
I've got to let this go! Quit responding! Dan's gonna be so mad.

They don't need a godly coach. They need a godly Dad, who will in all actuality be their godly coach.

But would you at least agree that sports can indeed be spiritually detrimental to some young people?

Why do we "gamble" with our kids? Place them in situations where they might not be strong enough to make it? Inquiring minds would like to know.

Very good point. My son played b-ball this year. He dressed godly and was a great witness. The coach was effusive in his praise of my son. Many parents complimented him.
There were some things we did not participate in. It would be the same in any other school sponsored event.

Dan won't mind. I'm sure he's off starting a "fire" someplace else.
Sports is never the problem. There is a problem though and it is a vacuum. Competition in any venue is not bad. It is how one uses it that can become a problem. Anytime the end (winning) justifiies the means, there is a problem. Put a godly person in their life who points out the benefits of winning with the right principles and I'll show a better young man or young woman.
