I was surprised before Christmas when I went to an outdoor "Bethlehem Revisited". There is a lot of walking, a lot of standing, and way too much cold. About 1/3 to 1/2 of the denominational women who took those tours wore skirts over their pants that night, for an extra layer of warmth. No one thought they were crazy or looked out of place at all.

I disagree. A very large part of a trip to the slopes takes place OFF the slopes and I would venture to say the majority of the time at the slopes would be spent off the slopes interacting with other people. And I've been with people that wore ski cullottes and believe me, it stood out big-time.

That's interesting ... Johnny ... because I've worked in inner city public schools now entering my 14th year and there are clear cut rules governing the the two schools I worked ... most coming from the district itself ... in NYC and Houston.
that deal with length of shorts, skirts ... cleavage showing ... girls who had to call home to be picked up so they can change.... with more on than a cheer leader.
and we've been telling boys they can't enter the school premises without their shirts tails tucked in since I began in 1997.
yes, all shirt tails must be tucked in as per district dress code where I'm at ... and in NYC as per the principal.

These garments ... the ski wear ....do stand out ... and are a safety hazard ... primarily to the wearer.

I can imagine a ski skirt might attract undue attention on a ski lift.
Maybe some of the difference is the area. There isn't a place to ski around here, so it's something I've never had to worry about.
People who were raised around certain standards and now disagree with them might notice ski skirts more than other people would though. Not sure; again, it could just depend on the area. I've read several comments about swimwear and had to laugh. Here, even "worldly" teen girls go to the pool in a t-shirt and/or knee-length shorts. Bikinis are almost unheard of... except on the Walmart clearance racks.

I've live in a beach state and I've never seen or heard of a beach where a modest, one-piece swimsuit would be out of place. And if such a place exists, neither you nor I should probably be there anyway getting our eyes full.
As far as me respecting personal choice....I'm expressing an opinion if that's ok with you. You're expressing one of your own.

Yup. It does seem you are unnecessarily judgmental in this particular issue. Seems you are fixated on how people dress. I have been on more than one beach or cruise ship where the Hoover girls were the only ones around with swim wear that wasn't two piece or stringy thingys.
I would just suggest relaxing. Know there is a lot of diversity in the world, and everyone has reasons for being who they are, even though they may not be your reasons.

And this may be true for those pics posted. That was my first thoughts as well, though I imagine they open up as needed for flexibility.
At any rate. It's a free country, and as much as I don't like it, many states now have the freedom to ride a motorcycle with a helmet...

Ya, that is what stood out to me.
But at least this is designed to be outdoor ski wear. I've been on the slopes before where the ladies put on their normal jean skirts over their snowmobile suits or snow pants. Now THAT just looked dumb to virtually all of us guys who were there.

True, there aren't very many who are brave enough to wear a bikini. But I'm sure California has more than most. Still, when we're at the beach, I see very few.
I just can't imagine how an ordinary ski outfit could ever be immodest or sexy.

Re: They're finally here .... Ski Skirts ... PTL
First of all, there is nothing inherently bad about a person trying to find a way to be active and still maintain modesty and femininity.
Secondly, after all the complaints about fat, inactive Apostolics, I would think any step in the direction of activity would be a good one.
While I would be the first to object if they were just wearing skirts (especially full or heavy skirts), since the garment is made to be functional, I'm alright with it. The way it's made, it's unlikely to go flying over anyone's head. And, if the woman wearing it follows the website's suggestion to wear wind pants or ski pants underneath, then even if it flew up, they wouldn't be showing anymore than the woman who shows up in only wind or ski pants.
Me, personally, I would just wear ski pants, although I've never been (yet--I'm still nagging Jeff about this), but I have no problem with people who do their best to balance modesty and athletics appropriately.
The fact that something looks different from the norm isn't a good enough reason to rule out its use.

I'm fixated??
Dude you're trying to put the shoe on the wrong foot. That's ridiculous. Wait, wait, wait..... I'M fixated when I'm more than willing to wear the normal and NOT stand out? Your credibility rating just fell a notch or two.
If you're going to beaches and/or cruises where nearly everyone is wearing two-piece bikinis or "stringy-thingys" you might want to consider hanging out in different places. You might see something you shouldn't!
