The real insult is that back home (in Wisconsin) the term BBQ is used to describe Sloppy Joe's and Manwich. God I hate that stuff! Of course very little good food has come out of the Polish and German cultures.

First of all....there are actual good sloppy joes ---from scratch not a can. .
But, you are correct...it's not BBQ.

In SD they serve "loose meat" sandwiches, in other words___good ground beef browned and served on a bun "au naturale"........and it's called a "tavern"! Then you can add your own toppings.
In our first month there someone offered me a tavern and I looked at them in horror.....
It's actually quite good!


Secondly...family joke that you never see a Polish or Finnish restaurant.
Although there are some good ethnic recipes__________what can I say?
