So the salvation of never dying souls are based on a guestimate?
If all the jailer had to do was believe on Jesus then what was the word of the Lord that Paul spoke unto them and why did Paul have to speak anything other than....Believe?
and was baptism part of that word? if not why did they get baptized in the middle of the night?
Was "believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved", the be all and end all of the message or was it the beginning. See John 1:12.
My "guestimate" is that the word of the Lord which Paul spoke tjo them included the gospel and baptism. My other "guestimate" is that Paul included repentance as part of the word of the Lord. Paul taught the same thing that Peter taught.
29 Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas,
30 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?
31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
32 And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house.
33 And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway.
34 And when he had brought them into his house, he set meat before them, and rejoiced, believing in God with all his house.

If one believes then they will repent.
Where this causes me to not be "Apostolic" is that speaking in tongues is not mentioned at all in this guys conversion experience.
Most if not all of Christianity teaches that in order for one to Biblically believe, one must repent. Many teach baptism-- I clearly see the responsibility resting on the Christian for repentance and baptism, as God gives that Christian Grace to experience both.
But to take the stance that one must speak in tongues before they are saved would be add to the Bible-- proof in point, the Phillipian jailer.

I think you're way off on this, Mizpeh. I'm disappointed. You've accused me recently of treating baptism profanely and now you're asking us to guess at something Paul might have said and use it as doctrine. I don't know where this is coming from.

Paul told the jailer to be baptized with all his house when he preached the gospel to him. This is so simple.
31: And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
32: And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house. 33 And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway.
34: And when he had brought them into his house, he set meat before them, and rejoiced, believing in God with all his house. Acts 16:31-34
He was to believe. Then Paul gave him the word TO believe. Next the SAME HOUR they were baptized. That should be enough to convince the gainsayers. No way do the Churches that fight baptism for remission of sins do this. Does yours?
They then believed in God even the Lord Jesus Christ. Starts believe on the Lord Jesus. Ends up believing in GOD. Jesus is the God they believed in.
Baptism is for believers. Christians get baptized. When the jailer took them out and washed their stripes they killed two birds with one stone so to speak, and was baptized at the same time. It doesn't seem that the hurry was for baptism so much as for washing the stripes and since they were there they got baptized too.
