Re: Hook 'em horns!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know this isn't the best of comparisons, it was early in the season and it isn't the best way to compare 2 teams through one like opponent, but Virginia Tech scored more points on Nebraska than Texas did and Virginia Tech's offense is definately not a powerhouse.

I think Nebraska is a beautiful place. It was great you had a good choice for a place to transfer.

I love Omaha. I used to come out here 20 years ago and preach for a friend of mine, and loved it then - it was always so comfortable and peaceful. But, most of my friends envision Omaha as a hayseed town in the middle of a corn field filled state. But, I was pretty happy to come across this article in Forbes entitled "Best Bang for your Buck American Cities"........
Omaha, our No. 1 bang-for-the-buck city (also rated the city best surviving the recession), joins a number of Great Plains metros near the top of our list. These include Wichita, Kan. (No. 6) and Tulsa, Okla. (No. 19). This swath of prairie in the center of the country was somewhat buffered from the disastrous effect on coastal markets of the housing crisis, enabling it to emerge solidly from the recession. Housing sales here kept a steady, if slow, pace during the boom.
Click here for the entire article if you're interested.........there are several other cities rated:

Re: Hook 'em horns!!!!!!!!!!!!
About the game ...
I wasn't much impressed with Texas or Colt McCoy before the game, I'm even less impressed with them after watching them win with help of the UT Graduate Referee and other officials.
Everyone knew NU had a terrible offense, but people seemed also to forget that Texas chokes against a defense with a pulse - OU and NU.
Think of this, if OU had a healthy Bradford, UT would have lost the game.
If NU had any kind of offense, if they could've scored a TD instead of settling for a FG after being inside UT's 10yd line, if UT isn't gift-wrapped a TD and FG set up by incredibly bad "pass interference" calls, or if the review booth reviews the tackle in the end zone by NU which should've given them a safety and two points ... any one of those things happen, UT loses again.
I cannot believe the Big XII allowed an officiating crew from Texas with the head referee being a UT graduate. Both pass interference calls were terrible. One was completely uncatchable - way overthrown and out of bounds. McCoy was just throwing it away in a desperate attempt to keep from getting sacked. Even the TV announcers who were whining about McCoy needing a Heisman moment all game long were confused and couldn't understand why the flag was thrown. That gave UT field position in which 3 plays later they made a FG. The other call was in the end zone and the NU defender didn't even touch the receiver.
I don't want to get into the call at the end where the UT graduate gave his alma mater one second to kick the winning field goal. They keep talking about the rules and how the play was correct, but according to the rulebook, the play is over when the whistle is blown, not when a player is tackled or ball hits the ground. The whistle stops the play.
The whistle blew after the clock showed 00.
But it's over and done with. Bottom line is NU needed a productive offense, and they don't have one.
Alabama will beat Texas because they have a great offense and a smothering defense. Ingram should win the Heisman, although I'd love to see Suh win, I don't think the voters are willing to let the trophy go to a defensive player. McCoy doesn't deserve it, neither does Tebow.

Thanks for the article! It was very interesting - home of 30 insurance companies, growing in the biofuel industry, strong agriculture sector - a strong base! And I also read that Nebraska didn't specialize in the types of institutions that took big risks and chased exotic financial structures.
Your Senator, Ben Nelson, has a lot on his plate with the Healthcare reform. He appears to be a Blue Dog. That's another plus for you! If, of course, you must have a Democrat, it's always a blessing to have a Conservative one. LOL!

The replay officials had a clear view, provided by TV cameras, that showed the incomplete pass hitting the ground with one second remaining. So, they followed Rule 12, Section 3, Article 6 - "The replay official may correct egregious errors, including those involving the game clock, whether or not a play is reviewable."
