Re: Would you put up a holiness chart on your webs
You nailed it. If I'm not saved unless I look exactly right, then I'm not saved at all.

But even as I type, I am thinking of the phrase, "holiness standards". This implies that one should dress according to these guidelines in order to be holy. If you don't abide by these guidelines, then you're not holy. If you're not holy, then you're not saved because, "holiness without, no man shall see the Lord."
So now I am forced to look this way because if I don't, I'm not saved.
It's this kind of thinking that feeds the idea that Apostolics are cultish and that they themselves are not even saved!
I rebuke these thoughts of heresy in the name of Jesus!
The blood of Jesus saves!
The blood of Jesus keeps me saved!
My salvation is all about Jesus!
I am saved by His Grace and for His Glory!!
Halleulujah!
Jesus Saves!!!

Here is the what they say: "Be careful with stretchy skirts. They tend to cling to you and may look good, but can end up being in-modest. If in doubt don't wear it."
Taken from the church website http://www.bostonupc.org/message.php?topicID=9753&
So what exactly does "in-modest" mean?
Please get someone to edit your websites. It is one thing to have a word spelled incorrectly in a forum or a personal page but to have a business or church website with words that are misspelled, or completely made up, makes you look "redneck", or plan ignorant.
plan ignorant???

Apostolic is defined on AFF as:
There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
Every sinner must repent of their sins.
That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

A few years ago a man (JZ) I worked with told me very proudly that at the Baptist Church where he was going, a woman is not even allowed in the door if she is wearing pants. This applies even to florists delivering flowers for weddings or funerals.
Their pastor stopped by their house. JZ's wife was on her hands and knees in the yard planting or weeding flowers and she had pants on. As the pastor approached the house he saw how she was dressed and abruptly turned around, got in his car, and drove off.

Exactly! I'm for full disclosure, not bait-n-switch! Put up your requirements for salvation, too. All the steps, and the maintenance requirements. All the rules. A few videos of typical services would be nice, too. Some folks like shock-a-moo, some don't. A well informed consumer is able to make better choices!

I'm in agreement with modesty, and is isn't a bad guideline, (minus the spelling errors), but I don't think it should be on their website. That's something that could be shared in a teaching setting, passed on from an older woman to younger women, as the practical application of a biblical principle. And some explanation as to the whys and hows should accompany the teaching.
The fact that its only for women makes the church look sexist and demeaning toward women, the fact that it includes spelling errors makes them look uneducated, and the fact that its priority enough to show the general public before they even attend the church makes them look like Pharisees. (More concerned with appearances than the heart.)
It may be that none of those assumptions are true, but that is likely how it will appear to people who aren't familiar with church traditions.
