I like 2 or 3 songs from Casting Crowns but I can handle them only for a short time.... I am all for black gospel.. Speaking of which, Have any of you heard Kurt Carr sing "What a God" to the tune of "What a Man" ???? I like it and found it entertaining and funny since I had only heard "What a Man" before.....
Kutless they are a bit on the rocky side but they did We Fall down which I believe has been done by Kurt Carr also.

Actually those two songs were two of my favorites when I was out in the world.

People who listened to 70's R & R can relate when they hear familiar songs in church, but when they realize the lyrics are different, they sit up and take notice.

I wonder what some of the old time pentecostals would think of this if there churches would start using secular songs.

Well we did them with some old time Pentecostals in our congregation. They didn't seem to mind.

If we tried this in our church it would go over like a lead ballon.

Re: secular music being used in church services.

There are alot of songs that various musicians have used portions of the music. I recently heard a song by a "Conservative musician" and recognized the intro as the same as "The house of the rising sun". It was a good gospel song when it was finished.

I am not against ALL secular music, but I am against all ungodly music.

IMO, music is inanimate, it is the purpose in which it is used that determines good or evil.

Re: secular music being used in church services.

I remember hearing Petra come out with God Gave Rock and Roll to You and thinking they wrote it. Nope it was KISS. Virtually the same song sung by both (and I like both versions).
