There was a family that had a Family reunion. On Sunday Morning, they all went to church. One of the family members was Baptist. They asked her to come froward for prayer where members surrounded her and eventually the crowd shoved her down.

She laid on the ground for a long time - They thought she was slain in the spirit but really what had happend, she had hit her head one the edge of the pew and ended up with a concusion. Eventually, one of the members realized it was serious and 911 was called. Ambulance attendees carried her out and she ended up in the hospital for 2-3 days.

She filed a suit against the church but eventually dropped the charges at the ugency of her relatives
Good Lord.... I'll bet her "relatives" made HER to be the villain in the whole thing.

I don't believe for a second that this man was really drunk. The holy spirit doesn't take over people so that they are impaired. This is this man's own doing and nothing of God.

People who "lose it" in church are generally just caught up in the hype. When someone really gets closer to God they become MORE aware of their surroundings and MORE in their right mind- not less!

I don't know.....I've seen people so drunk in the Holy Ghost that they absolutely couldn't walk or talk (English). I've seen teenagers in this condition that you would never dream would do it, and I know it wasn't for attention. I've seen them have to be carried out. So I do believe you can be "impaired". They were obviously appearing to be drunk on the Day of Pentecost.

I agree with you Sister.

I don't think most posters on this thread realized that the story that started the thread was a farce. However, I believe people can appear to be drunk under the influence of the Holy Ghost because the Bible mentions it.

Something I do have a problem understanding though is the "Holy Laughter."

I've never personally experienced it and EVERYTIME I've ever seen it, I've been very uncomfortable with it.

German, you are reaching far to find a four year old thread to respond to!

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Re: Man Arrested for DRIVING DRUNK IN THE SPIRIT!

It's sort of fitting, though, since the thread starter was an article from Lark News. (Satirical Newspaper)
