So does anyone else know, if the punch in the video tape on post #1 is real?
Jeanie, I think it was very obviously staged. The reaction of the audience would suggest it (of course I do not know Mr. Ventura, so I guess it is possible that a roomful of people would be fine with that )....but the dead giveaway is the reaction of the host who just picked up the mic and carried on with the evening. In a real situation, those who were responsible for the comedy evening would most definitely check on the person who was just assaulted.

Well....well...well...what can I say? This is quite the forum. Well..."George"...(it's easy to be "honest" with comments when no one really knows your real name) the PromiseLand date of which you are speaking is in Fairfield, Ca. Of course, I forgot to type that in. I figured it would be pretty obvious being that I was just at the same PROMISE LAND WORSHIP CENTER in Nov. Anyway, are you going to be around? If so, it would be great to meet you face to face. btw, I genuinely hope you enjoy the site, bro.
Your sarcasm can be turned back to you. How do I know you are really Kelly Ventura? If you think my nickname is less than honest, sobeit. Just because I have not listed my birth certificate doesn't make me less than honest. Every opinion I give on this forum is honest.
If you will preach Rod Parsley messages, you just might go to Promiseland in Austin, TX. Not being critical about it, just my opinion. You won't answer questions others have directed to you so maybe you are being somewhat dishonest. Or maybe you just haven't got used to the lingo on the forum because you come across cocky.

Well at least you and Ferd are far more engaging that Mr. Kelly seems to be!
I was hoping he would be open and honest with us, and perhaps explain his comic thinking ect.
You know dialog? I know you know what that is Stew-you are quite good at it. It may take a newbie a while to figure it how it works around here.

Well George, I would have thought of the promiseland in Austin too- I didnt realize anyone else was using the same name.
Hey my friends, someone just called me and mentioned this thread so I came to check it out. I have been on a self-imposed ban for a while, I needed a reality check!
In regards to the video, maybe I can clear it up for some of you, as it took place at my church (that is to say, the church I attend and work at).
It was recorded Friday night at a Comedy Night our church sponsored featuring Jeremy Foster and Clergy Comedy (which Kelly Ventura is a part of along with Darrin Sargent).
This event was held to kick off the opening of our new children's and youth facility.
It was definitely a staged fight, maybe Bro. Ventura didn't want to acknowledge that because it was part of the joke. There was an elaborate setup for it and the audience was in on it. It was (and is) funny because of the bad rap Bakersfield generally gets.
The whole night was a blast and I am sorry that some of you didn't get to be there, because you obviously need a laugh to lighten you up!
