back during 1988 I was in the Navy. My mom and dad were talking about this book 88 reasons.
Now there arent too many things more cynical than a backslidden pentecostal who cut their teeth on the back of a pentecostal pew....at that time I was such a one.
At some point, on the phone with mom or dad while they were talking about this 88 reasons, I replied with something along the lines of: "well that settles it, I dont have to get back in church until 1989 cuz God wont come back in 88 even if that was his plan!
I was 9 years old, but I still remember the hubub and publicity that book got. I remember my Pastor preaching about it and how silly it was.
I may be mistaken but I think the guy went back and wrote another book because he'd "miscalculated" and gotten it wrong the first time.

Also, they state that the event wasn't held at the church or even at the hotel they are claiming.
